The Wheelhouse

The Yorkshire Heritage Coast and North York Moors lie within reach of The Wheelhouse, a converted 19th-century mill that sits on farmland between coast and countryside. Open fields stretch around the property, with sea views across the horizon, and the working farm brings longhorn cattle and passing wildlife into the setting. A farm track leads to the entrance, keeping the location quiet but accessible for day trips to either landscape.

The building retains its original character: exposed sandstone walls and the huge beam that once supported the millstone now frame the main living space, where high ceilings and an open mezzanine make the room feel generous. Three bedrooms and two bathrooms spread across ground and first floors—two of the beds can split into singles if needed. The kitchen is fully fitted for cooking, with a dishwasher and separate washer-dryer. Heating comes from an air source pump and a wood burner (fuel included), and the essentials of wi-fi, bed linen and towels are covered. One dog can stay free, and there's parking for three cars plus an enclosed garden with patio space.
