Small remote campground in Gwynedd with composting toilets, car parking by pitch, and access to river activities.
About Cwmwd
Cwmwd is a small campground in a remote location in Gwynedd, set on farmland with forest and mountain views. The 11–25 pitches have car parking directly by them. The facilities block includes showers and composting toilets, kept to a high standard, though there is no hot water or mains drinking water on site. Recycling is available, and tourer storage is provided for those leaving vehicles behind.
The immediate setting is peaceful, with a river nearby offering swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding without leaving the grounds. The wider area suits walkers, cyclists and mountain bikers, with climbing, horse riding, fishing and watersports all accessible nearby. A shop and public transport are within reach, as are restaurants and a surf school. The site welcomes families, motorcycle riders and single-sex groups, but does not allow dogs.

What visitors say
What an amazing setting with so much in the area to explore. We were away for a long weekend away camping, with friends in their camper van and received a very warm welcome. The grounds were well kept, the facilities really clean. We had an electric hook up and access to WiFi Having access to the river for a dip and some kayaking and paddle boarding was special. Would highly recommend this site, we are already considering when we can next visit as we want to climb Mt. Snowdon. Depending on the time of year might even consider booking the cottage. Thanks for a great stay

Five of us stayed here while participating in the Slateman triathlon.. Very handy as it was only a 20 minute gentle ride down the road to the start . Superb little site, with lovely terraced grass pitches for tents and a mixture of gravel and grass for camper vans. Toilets and showers very clean, the whole site has been meticulously thought through. The river connects to Llyn Padarn so plan to paddle around there next time.
