We tried Oudh 1722 while visiting London and had a great meal! The restaurant was very well put together and I enjoyed the open kitchen - the chefs know what they are doing and don't let a dish leave unless it is perfect! First off, the service was impeccable from the moment we walked in. At no point did I need something that I didn't have. The server had great recommendations and was very attentive and welcoming. Food was top notch. I wish i remembered the names of all the dishes. The prawns and the lamb chop absolutely shined. Cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. Overall this was a great experience and I do recommend this restaurant.

We had lunch at Oudh 1722 and were really impressed. Although it's a fairly new restaurant, everything about the experience was excellent. The staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and happy to explain the dishes and make recommendations. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a lovely place to relax and enjoy a meal. The food was absolutely delicious, packed with flavour, and the portions were incredibly generous. In fact, there was so much food that we had to take the rest home in a doggy bag! Considering the quality and portion sizes, the prices were very reasonable. Overall, it was a fantastic lunch, and we'll definitely be back. Highly recommended!

I was really excited about Akhtar Islam finally opening in London, and I’m pleased to say it completely lived up to expectations. We definitely over ordered, but every dish was so good that we couldn’t resist trying as much as possible. The quality of the ingredients, depth of flavour and attention to detail were evident throughout the meal. The standout dishes for me were the Herdwick Lamb Kebab Gilwat just pure melty goodness, the Chaap (marinated lamb cutlet with pomegranate seed and cloves)and the Nihari with ox cheek and bone marrow sauce which I could probably drink the sauce!!! Everything we ordered was excellent. The Mutanjan Dum Biryani with oxtail, aged basmati and sweet carrot was packed with flavour, while the Malai Murgh was beautifully tender and delicately spiced. The Kaddua Ki Qorma, Kara Masala Ka Gosht, Dal Bukhara and Dal Sultani all showcased complex, layered flavours that felt both refined and deeply comforting. Even the pappad selection with chutneys and the wild garlic, coriander and ghee naan were exceptional. Dessert was equally memorable. The Nimish with saffron, Alphonso mango and rose petals was light and fragrant, and the complimentary freshly baked madeleines served with cardamom pistachio Chantilly cream were a lovely finishing touch. A special shout-out to Niloy for the fantastic service. He warned us several times that we were ordering far too much food (he was absolutely right!), made sure everything we couldn’t finish was carefully packed up, and throughout the evening we never felt rushed despite lingering over the meal. One of the best Indian dining experiences I’ve had in London recently. The food was incredible throughout, with complex, well-balanced flavours in every dish, and it was absolutely worth the anticipation. I look forward to returning.

Overall, I enjoyed my meal here, but if I'm being honest, it didn't come close to living up to the hype, glowing reviews or hefty price tag. It was good, but certainly not one of the best Indian meals I've had. The standout dish of the day was the chaat with white peas and potato. Absolutely delicious. Packed with flavour, with a great balance of spice, creaminess and a little sharpness from the pomegranate. The Hardwick lamb kebab was a bit of a let-down. As you can see from the photos, it looked surprisingly anaemic and honestly reminded me of something you'd get in Wetherspoons. A few small lamb balls that fell apart as soon as you touched them. It tasted nice enough, but visually and for the price, it was disappointing. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the Lasooni Jhinga king prawn. At £25, expectations are naturally fairly high. Unfortunately, the prawn was cold and severely lacking in flavour. The mutton biryani was very tasty and I can see why it's one of the restaurant's signature dishes. My only criticism was that the oxtail made it quite oily and greasy. Still enjoyable, but heavier than I'd ideally like. The tandoori chicken curry was creamy, rich and packed with flavour. The chicken was beautifully cooked and tender. Personally, I found it a little too creamy and would have preferred more heat, but that's purely down to personal taste. My wife loved it. The Dal Sultani was excellent. Loads of flavour and one of the highlights of the meal. Definitely a dish I'd recommend. The coriander naan was surprisingly average. Not particularly large, not especially fluffy and generally quite forgettable. Given how good naan can be, this was firmly bottom quartile compared to others I've had. One final mention for the peach and mango cider, which was fantastic. We spent around £200, and while I enjoyed the meal overall, I left feeling that I'd paid for the reputation more than the food.
