About Old Pines Hotel
Spean Bridge sits at the foot of some of the Highlands' best-known scenery, with Ben Nevis rising nearby and open mountain views stretching from the grounds of Old Pines Hotel. The hotel's garden setting makes the most of this landscape, giving the whole property a quiet, unhurried feel away from the road.
There are seven rooms at Old Pines, each en-suite and kept cosy and comfortable rather than grand. Public areas open onto the garden, and the kitchen has built a reputation for flavourful dinners and breakfasts, making the restaurant as much a reason to stay as the rooms themselves. Staff run the place with a friendly, attentive touch, and pets are welcome, so the hotel suits both walkers passing through and guests settling in for longer. The grounds and function space are also used for weddings, with 24 hour reception covering guests throughout their stay.
Spean Bridge itself is close by, and the position under Ben Nevis puts hillwalking and mountain scenery within easy reach. It is a good base for exploring the surrounding countryside, with the hotel itself offering a calm place to return to after a day outdoors.
What guests say
So, you go into a posh restaurant what do you want. A cosy place for a drink and squiz at the menu and the best seat in the house by the window with the view. Old pines has built a cosy place for every diner and laid out their tables so everyone gets the best view. Really lovely food. Puddings are worth leaving room for. Personally I like a little more punch in some of the dishes, flavour wise, but it was a beautiful meal, well presented with some bright young waitresses that knew the area and provided good service

This was amazing. A brilliant service welcomed us after we had a delay of 2 hours due to unplanned road closure and diverted route. Even the kitchen was opened longer as usual to create us an outstanding and delicious three course dinner. 👏🏻 We really enjoyed our stay at your lovely small hotel and recommend it to everyone. When we will be in the region a again you will receive our booking, promised.

An exceptional stay at this hotel. The rooms were warm and clean, beds super comfortable. The staff accommodated our request for a cot. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, very well kept and the view of the mountains breathtaking. Regarding food, we had an extremely high standard dinner. The restaurant also had a kids’ menu. Our kids had haddock and chips which was one of the best they had on the trip. The adults food was super flavourful, beautifully presented, and portions were good. Breakfast in the morning was a plated order, again very high standard.

We were picked up from the locks by the owner as we were travelling by boat up the locks. He was a lovely chap and we felt very welcome as we arrived and were greeted by goats. The service was perfect and food was the best we've had in a while. A lovely hidden spot in the middle of the wilderness. We hope to return soon and suggest everyone should make the stop if possible!
