I am a regular to the CL site. It has everything you could ever want, the grounds are immaculate and so peaceful. On my last visit, Sarah & Andy allowed me to look inside "the Stables," the on-site rental cottage, to see if it was suitable for my elderly parents. My father has very limited mobility. As soon as I entered, I could see it was perfect.I booked it there and then. We have just returned home after a fantastic Easter stay. I took my caravan to stop on the CL, and my parents booked the cottage. The cottage has its own parking spot right at the door. There is one small step to enter the rear door. Once inside, the cottage is all on one level with plenty of room to get around. All the rooms are spacious with everything you could need. It was immaculate and furnished to a high standard.A welcome pack of gifts and essentials was much appreciated. My father uses a walking frame, and this was never hindered due to the space. The bathroom was perfect with a large walk-in shower. The living room opens out onto a private patio seating area via bi-fold doors. My parents had initially booked the cottage for three days, and were that impressed that they stopped a further two days. I can not recommend Old Wheelwrights enough, especially if like us you require additional accommodation for guests so you can all enjoy a holiday together. "The stables" is perfect for disabled, limited mobility guests. My parents thoroughly enjoyed their break, and we will all return in the very near future.

Just back from 8 days at The Old Wheelwright’s Retreat CL caravan site. What a find. Open some four years now it is by far the best CL we have ever stayed at. Five massive level pitches, hardstanding, but awnings can be pitched on the accompanying grass if that’s your preference. Five miles from Spilsby, enter Firsby then turn right through a pair of impressive wooden gates and feast your eyes upon a stone-chip drive that could adorn a country mansion, this leading into an oasis of calm, charm, quirky and quiet. Sarah is on hand at reception to allocate your pitch. Don’t worry which one, they are each as good as the next. Now where to start. There’s a huge expanse of well kept, landscaped lawn. Andy sees to that. There’s a scent of lavender in the air. Pitch up, wire up and then take a look at the old Massey Ferguson tractor on route to the large circular pond at the far end of the site where ducks float and fish swim, this complete with wooden bridge to a central island. Herons looks on, one plastic, another real and occasionally circling. On the adjoining embankment is a sturdy wooden patio complete with the ‘Waiting Room’, a nod to past days of train travel, large wooden table and chairs so charming it’s difficult to vacate. The sun shines in here at breakfast. Sit and relax, listen as the tall fountain pepper the pond with arches of gleaming water. A little further around is a sage green summer house, complete with deep cushioned seating and sundry decor. Welcome shade on the hot days we enjoyed. Further around still is the Shepherd’s Hut, in here games, guitars, books, magazines, and yes, more comfy seating. It also looks out on the pond. Around the water’s edge are cut tree trunk benches and wooden seats. Walk back to the pitches, past rowing boat planters and pop to the book exchange library, in a red telephone box, next to the red postal box. Dog walkers have a tree lined path to enjoy, shaded from the midday sun it runs along one long edge of the site. There’s a tidy, clean, outside but covered sink unit to wash the pots, boiling hot water. Pass the nostalgic red painted farm cart there’s the shower room/toilet/wash basin always so immaculately clean. Again piping hot water, adjustable of course. There’s no road noise, none at all. There’s a star lit sky at night, clouds permitting. There’s wonderful sunsets, again weather permitting. Oh and if you want to bring family who don’t have a home on wheels there’s ‘The Stables’, a luxurious one bedroom, lounge, kitchen conversion enjoying the same outlook as the pitches. Andy and Sarah have a gem of a site here, are perfectly charming hosts and have a completely different outlook on what they want their CL to offer, ‘outside the box’ thinking. There’s actually no need to venture any farther than the site itself, and on several days we did just that and spent a lazy time in one area then another. No need to keep to your perimeter of your pitch. Skegness though is only a half hour away, Spilsby fifteen minutes. Boston and Lincoln a little further. As I said at the beginning, what a find. Don’t all book it up, we want to return and return. I’ll be nominating it for CL of the year, visit and you will too.

Hello We have recently stopped at the wheelwright retreat we went for a quiet week to distress . We enjoyed the stop on the wettest December I remember since being born. We went touring the area in December with plenty to do. Gardens ,aircraft, beaches ,pubs ,town shops, brewery dark nights star gazing. The cottage is well equipped (WITH CHRISTMAS TREE AND DECORATIONS. December.) 🎄🧑‍🎄🌰🍪🎁 It is very clean and well maintained king size bed, TV laminate floor, thought out The bathroom has a wet room shower. The living room has a big L shaped sofa TV with loads of Channels. The big by fold doors open out onto a gravel patio which looks across the garden to the pond summer house, seats, and shepherds hut full of info and games. for guests to use and enjoy . Dogs must be on a lead. The left hand side is where the owners run a five pitch cl caravan site . The kitchen is well equipped with a small fridge and cooker and all small appliances . We have used the site many times in the caravan and recommended both the stables and caravan site. This was our first stop in the stables (Enjoyed it)😁😃🌛⭐💤 The family are really nice to chat with all ways available for help and advice . And sometimes fresh eggs.🐓🐔🥚
