What diners say
The Ten Bells is one of London’s most iconic and traditional pubs, and it’s easy to see why it has remained such a landmark over the years. Located right next to Spitalfields Market, it’s the perfect place to stop for a pint after exploring the area. They have a great selection of draft beers, with plenty of options whether you’re looking for a classic British ale or something more contemporary. The food was also surprisingly good, making it much more than just a place to grab a drink. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d hope for from a historic London pub: lively without feeling overwhelming, full of character, and with a strong sense of local history. Despite being well known, it still feels authentic rather than overly touristy. If you’re visiting East London or spending time around Spitalfields, The Ten Bells is well worth a visit for its history, excellent beers, good food, and classic pub atmosphere.

If you're in town and know about Jack the Ripper, its a place most people will visit. Nothing different from our visit. Just to see if we get the chills. It was quite safe. No goosebumps. Beer is nice. Place is.....like other pubs. But experience is existing

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Historic East End pub with great beer *The Ten Bells* on Commercial Street is famous — and infamous — but it’s also just a really good proper London pub. *What I loved:* - *History* - This is the Jack the Ripper pub. Two of the victims were regulars here in 1888. You can feel the history in the old brick and dark wood. There are photos and info on the walls if you’re into that. - *The beer* - Great selection of ales, craft beers, and proper pints. Also does good cocktails if you’re not a beer person. - *Food* - Classic pub food: fish & chips, burgers, pies. Nothing groundbreaking but solid and good value for central London. - *Vibe* - By day it’s tourists and history buffs. By night it’s locals, creatives from Shoreditch, and market crowds. Lively but not a rowdy nightclub. *Heads up:* It gets busy on weekends, especially after Brick Lane Market. Service can be slow when it’s packed. And yes, it’s touristy because of the history, but locals still drink here too. *Overall: 4/5* Come for a pint, some pub food, and a bit of dark London history. It’s right between Shoreditch, Spitalfields, and Brick Lane so it’s perfect for a pub crawl stop. Best to go mid-week early evening if you want a seat and a quieter chat.

If you’re near Spitalfields market and fancy some drinks and or something to eat, I recommend you pop into the Ten Bells Pub. The pub has loads of character, which helps to create a nice atmosphere. If you have kids, I’m afraid they’re not allowed in the bar, only outside. The barman who advised me that kids aren’t allowed in the pub was friendly, professional and helpful. Thank you.
