As anywhere in England, wild camping on open farmland or common land around St Michaels is not permitted without the landowner's explicit agreement -- this is a working agricultural parish of orchards and hop yards, and land here should be assumed to be private unless clearly signposted otherwise. Anyone wanting a closer-to-nature stay should look instead to the handful of small campsites and glamping options scattered around the wider Teme Valley and near Ludlow, several of which offer shepherd's huts, pods or bell tents for a softer introduction to the area.

Late spring blossom through the orchards and the late-summer hop and apple harvest are the most atmospheric times to camp here, when the working landscape that shapes this corner of Worcestershire is at its most visible. Outside those months, the valley is quieter still, and a pitch with a view of Clee Hill is hard to beat for anyone wanting genuine rural stillness rather than a lively campsite scene.
