Fir Tree Cottage

Alton Towers is close enough for a day trip, and Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty lies within easy driving distance. The Peak District, Shropshire and Cheshire are all accessible for walking and cycling, and the Wedgwood Museum in Stoke-on-Trent is worth a visit if you're interested in pottery heritage. Fir Tree Cottage sits in the quiet hamlet of Chatcull, surrounded by country lanes and fields.

The cottage sleeps eight across four bedrooms: a double on the first floor, two rooms with paired single beds, and a fourth with a single plus a pull-out. There is one bathroom with a bath and shower, and a separate toilet on the ground floor. Downstairs holds a living and dining room with a TV and DVD player, plus a kitchen equipped for proper cooking—electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge and freezer all included. Heating, electricity and bed linen are covered in the price; towels cost £2 per person per week. An open fire comes with initial fuel included, and there is a utility room with a washer-dryer.

Outside, a large garden has furniture and a barbecue. A tennis court and fishing are available by arrangement at the owners' home half a mile away. One well-behaved pet stays free. The cottage is non-smoking, and there is private parking on site.

Lovely place. I have told all my friends about it. Brilliant setting. One of the better places I've been to. Cosy, comfortable, scenic, rural....ticks all my boxes. There's people not happy with cleanliness, however place is rural so would expect a few small creatures. Host was nice to. Will defo be booking again. Well priced to. Thank you again.

I stayed here for a weekend with my family for an escape from London to the countryside. Lovely home and no complaints. The view was picturesque from the upstairs bedrooms and location was just lovely and quiet. Spacious garden with lots of space for the doggy to run around in and was visited by lots of wildlife like all types of birds, also saw a hare! And a chipmunk lol. The weather was luckily sunny when we went and the conservatory was lovely to sit in. Especially the wicca furniture which was nice and comfy. We also met the owner who was extremely friendly and was a pleasure to meet. Enjoyed some dinner and drinks in the garden on one of the nights. Was just perfect and what we were after - nice comfy homely cottage in the countryside, no noise other than just nature. Would love to stay again.

Great place for a reunion of friends. Would equally suit a family looking for a few nights away. The house is clean though in some areas a bit tired but overall what one would expect for an older property. The views and scenery are stunning and it's very quiet so a great place to get away from it all and unwind. Nearest pub is a short drive away in a nearby village so if you want a pub in walking distance not really doable. The open fire in the lounge is fantastic and we bought extra firewood which is essential. One of the bedrooms was very cramped but the others were great with comfy beds. Kitchen well stocked with utensils, cooker, hob and microwave plus dishwasher a bonus. Overall, for the price, the property, I believe, offers fantastic value for money and great place for stopping a few nights.
