A well-placed campsite near Bungay
About The Reserve
Tucked into the Suffolk countryside near Bungay, The Reserve is an adults-only escape that leans firmly into simplicity and peace. With just 11-25 non-electric grass pitches, it's a proper back-to-basics spot where campfires crackle into the evening and the emphasis is on quiet rather than facilities – you'll need to bring a portable toilet. The terrain can be a little uneven underfoot, but that's part of the charm for those seeking something more wild than polished.
Location-wise, it punches above its weight: lakeside tranquillity, excellent dog-walking routes, and fishing, golf, and restaurants all close by. Walkers will find plenty to explore, and wildlife enthusiasts won't be disappointed either. Pitches from around £30 make it a decent-value base for discovering this gentle corner of Suffolk without the crowds.

What visitors say
We really enjoyed our weekend at Secret Meadows with our two young children. We visited during the heatwave, and the team kindly upgraded us from the horsebox to a tent to make us more comfortable in the heat, which was very much appreciated. Our kids loved having the chicken coop as part of our stay and enjoyed collecting the eggs each morning. They also loved the cupboard bed. We all really enjoyed the Meet the Animals experience too. Matt tailored it to what our family wanted to do, and our 4-year-old especially loved spending time with the goats. The safari tent was spacious, comfortable, well equipped and in a lovely peaceful setting. There was also a small honesty shop with some nice local items and fresh eggs available to buy. We would love to come back and stay for longer next time - we’d recommend Secret Meadows to anyone looking for a peaceful family getaway.

We (family of four, kids 13 and 10) have just returned from our eighth visit to Secret Meadows. It’s amazing, and the place we collectively dream of returning to due year after year. The tents are fabulous and spotlessly clean. The beds, with their crisp white linen, are some of the most comfortable we ever sleep in. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the equipment you could need. The team are effortlessly efficient and super lovely. Cannot recommend highly enough. 10/10, 5 stars, magical. We will be back again!

We really enjoyed our stay — it was such a wonderful experience! We didn’t expect everything to be so well organised and full of thoughtful details, which made our stay super pleasant for our whole family, including our dog. The animal experience was truly special for our daughter, and Matt was incredibly kind and attentive. Ross was also very friendly and helpful when we arrived, making it easy for us to settle in. The walks around the nature reserve are absolutely beautiful — such a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere — and listening to the birds and animals at night was magical. There are also so many lovely places nearby to visit and eat. We stayed for four days but definitely felt we needed more time to really explore the area properly. We’d love to come back and stay longer next time!

We stayed in the two storey tent for a long weekend with our son's family and grandchildren. We had a hen coop and a dog pack too. Our stay was glorious, we spent most of our time on the site walking, den building, exploring, playing, seeing the animals and just chilling together. The space was clean, private and had all we needed, the swing and hammock were very popular with the children. We were toasty warm at night and had plenty of room for relaxed meals together. The shower rooms were clean, lovely and great showers! We will be visiting again, autumn is such a nice time to be there, even in the wind and rain! Thank you so much for a lovely family place to stay, we couldn't have asked for more!
