0 handpicked places to stay

Telscombe has no hotels of its own, which is part of its appeal as a quiet corner of the South Downs National Park, but that makes it an easy day-trip or short stay based from the surrounding area. Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs, just down the hill on the coast, have a handful of guesthouses and B&B-style accommodation within walking distance of both the seafront and the lane up into the village. Newhaven, a few miles along the coast, adds further options close to the ferry port and marina, useful if you are combining a Sussex stay with travel to or from France.

For a wider choice of hotels, Lewes is only about fifteen minutes away by car and offers characterful coaching inns and boutique stays within its historic streets, plus easy access to the railway station for day trips without a car. Brighton and Hove, around twenty minutes further on, has the largest concentration of hotels in the area, from budget chains to seafront boutique properties, along with the restaurants, nightlife and shopping of a proper seaside city. Staying in either Lewes or Brighton and driving out to Telscombe for a walk on the Tye is the approach most visitors take, since it combines the peace of the village with a fuller range of places to eat, drink and sleep nearby.
