About The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park

Game, set and... match. If you're a serious angling aficionado, The Oaks Lakes Caravan Park at Sessay is just the ticket: it sits adjacent to ten match and pleasure lakes forming one of the best-known coarse fisheries in the north. Carp, tench, bream, roach, barbel and more await in the main lakes, while the specimen water holds grass carp to 25lbs and mirrors to 28lbs. Site guests get reduced day tickets, and there's a well-stocked tackle shop alongside a café serving hot and cold food. While some pitches can feel a touch tired in places, the intimate four-acre field offers easy lake access and the tranquil, adults-only atmosphere suits anglers perfectly.

Non-anglers needn't feel left out. The Oaks enjoys pole position for exploring the North York Moors, York, Harrogate and Leeds, with easy A1 and A19 access. The surrounding countryside rewards walkers and cyclists, and several country estates lie within striking distance – making this a peaceful base whether you're casting a line or simply casting off into rural North Yorkshire.

Dirtiest site we've ever stayed on, thick spider webs and dust over toilet brush, mould and absolutely filthy shower curtains in ladies facilities! Our grass was unkempt and pitch 3 was in full shade all afternoon and evening. Very poor compared to other sites at similar prices. The only positive was the close proximity to Thirsk.

Good site if you like to fish. Great breakfast at cafe Lovely and peaceful but felt closed in with 8ft hedges and no view. It would be lovely if it was cut giving a view over the fields.

The site is quiet and tidy. No children on this site so not good for families, but great for fishing. The toilet block is modern and the toilet room was clean. However, there are only two female toilets and the first morning there was no loo role left. We were in a tent so this was a problem for me. We didn't use the showers because they were a bit grim, maybe they they will be next to be upgraded.
