About R.S.H. Southedge Works Campsite (Certificated Site)

R.S.H. Southedge Works is a certificated campsite in Hipperholme, on the edge of Halifax. It suits caravanners and campers looking for a small, no-frills base with proper facilities rather than a full-service park. The site has showers on-site.

The location is genuinely handy for a night or two: The Cock of the North Bar and Halifax Steam Brewing Company are both just a few minutes' walk away, and Yorkshire Renaissance is next door. It is the kind of place where you pitch up, use the facilities, and head out to explore the local area or settle into a nearby pub rather than spend the day on the campsite itself.

The site is small but lovely, next to a brewery with toilet facilities. The problem is the owner ' R' of the furniture restoration business next door. You use the same vehicle entrance but he shouts and spews vitriol when you drive in. He keeps saying "its private, you should never be let in here". Whilst staying here, we went in to look in the restoration business not realising it was his. We went in with our dog and 2 daughters, under 12. He kept looking like he could stamp on the dog. My daughter put a crisp bag in his bin and you'd have thought she'd set gire to it or something the way he screamed at her- she was in tears. He hates the brewery next door. Even though you cant chose your neighbours it put us right off vising again.

We had an event at the Piece Hall in Halifax. We stopped at this campsite and it was perfect for the one night we stayed. It has electric hook up and toilets (no showers). The owner was very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. He even helped us with a paving slab to put our disposable BBQ on. He gave us all the information of local takeaways etc and the bus stop to Halifax was just a 5 minute walk away. It took 10 minutes to Halifax centre by bus. If I come to the Piece Hall again I would definitely book here again. One last note the pub is right next door! (Seperate business). Thank you!
