About Caithness Camping Pods

Perched in the Caithness countryside just outside Watten, these off-grid camping pods offer a peaceful year-round retreat with sweeping views towards Dunnet Head. The setup is intentionally simple—drinking water and toilets are provided, but there are no showers or WiFi, making this a proper back-to-basics escape for those happy to rough it a little. Dogs are welcome, and the location works brilliantly as a touring base for the far north.

The pods themselves are straightforward but cosy enough for families wanting to explore this dramatic corner of Scotland without the faff of tent pegs. It's the kind of place that rewards self-sufficiency and won't suit everyone, but if you're after solitude and big skies rather than creature comforts, it delivers exactly what it promises.

A little gem in a great location. The pods are basic, but warm, clean and comfortable - a perfect option for anyone wanting a camping-like experience without the hassle of a tent. There's a nice area to cook out of the wind and rain, a composting toilet, 3 camping pods and a tent pitch. If you're a night owl, I'd recommend bringing a picnic blanket and keeping your fingers crossed for a clear night - the stars are incredible here! The owner is fantastic - full of local knowledge and really friendly. I would highly recommend a stay.

Superb off-grid trio of pods. Suitable for the self-sufficient camper who's after a roof, blackout blinds and comfy mattress. Separate kitchen area has worktops, water butt and chairs. Loo block has sink with running cold water and mirror. Site is superbly sustainable. Gabs was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. This should be a first choice stop on folk's adventures north.

Wonderful place to stay. After wild camping for a few days staying in the pod felt almost like a penthouse at the ritz! The pods are warm and comfortable, and the views out over Loch Watten are fabulous, especially on a clear night exceptional for stargazing. The facilities are fairly simple, and thats part of the charm - it offers comfort and freedom for the wild camper - its clean and well kept, has everything you'd need and is very reasonably priced. Gabrielle is a lovely host, friendly, generous and full of good advice and interesting conversation. I'd highly recommend to any weary travellers who find themselves in this beautiful part of the world, and I'll hope to be back myself before too long!
