What visitors say
We recently stayed at Rooker’s Rest and absolutely loved it. The location is beautiful, set within a lovely plot of land that feels wonderfully secluded from the surrounding properties. It’s a peaceful retreat that makes you feel as though you’re in the middle of a forest, offering plenty of privacy and tranquillity. Jonathan was a fantastic host—friendly, attentive, and helpful in every way. From excellent communication before our arrival to providing all the information we needed and being available throughout our stay, he went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience. It rained for most of the weekend, but this is exactly the kind of place that isn’t affected by the weather. It’s cosy, comfortable, and perfect for couples looking to escape the bustle of everyday life and enjoy some time to unwind. The outdoor shower was a real highlight, as was the new sauna beside the lake. Both offered a unique and relaxing experience, with beautiful views that made it easy to switch off and recharge. We would happily return and felt the stay was very reasonably priced compared with similar options we’ve seen elsewhere. We’d highly recommend Rooker’s Rest to anyone looking for a peaceful slice of relaxation in a beautiful setting.

My wife and I stayed for the weekend. It’s situated in a lovely quiet part of the countryside and you really feel connected and a part of the nature around you. The host was lovely and allowed us to explore the garden. We met Rodger (the turkey), who was equally welcoming. Some lovely walks in the area too, we walked about 50 mins into Sandford and back. I’d certainly recommend a stay here.

I had such a lovely stay at Rookers Rest. The cabin was comfortable, nicely kept, and a perfect spot to escape the busyness of everyday life. It’s peaceful and secluded, with a really welcoming host. I wasn’t sure about the outdoor shower at first, but it actually fit the setting perfectly and added to the charm. Left feeling relaxed and would happily come back again!
