Ye Olde Talbot Hotel

Dear Customer Relations, I am writing to make a formal complaint about my stay at Ye Olde Talbot Hotel. The room was completely different from the photos shown online. The room did not match what was advertised, and we were extremely disappointed. The most serious problem was the unbearable heat in the room. There was no air conditioning or any effective cooling system. The room was so hot that it was impossible to sleep. During the night, both my friend and I struggled to breathe because of the extreme heat. We were also unable to get drinking water when we desperately needed it. We repeatedly called the hotel for help, but no one answered the phone. There was no one at reception, and no member of staff was available to assist us. We felt completely abandoned during a very distressing situation. Because the room was unbearably hot, we spent much of the night sitting outside instead of sleeping in the room we had paid for. To make matters worse, there was not even basic soap provided, and we could not obtain any because there was no staff available. This experience was completely unacceptable and far below the standard advertised. We paid for a comfortable and safe stay, but instead we experienced discomfort, stress, and a situation that affected our health. I ask that you investigate this matter urgently. I also request a full refund or appropriate compensation for this unacceptable experience. I look forward to your prompt response. Yours faithfully,

Lovely pub on the edge of the cathedral area. Super friendly, efficient staff. Great food and beer.

We had a Sunday dinner there, loin pork. The food was delicious. Service was very good.

Super check-in, pleasant guys in reception. Room was on the first floor and a warren of corridors to get to the room. Lovely clean room a bit dark but we love coaching inns and the history that are attached to them. We asked for a shower mat as neither of us are particularly stable on our feet. Was brought up to the room without any problems. Only downside for us (in our 70s) was a few steps down to the bathroom, so had to put the light on through the night Will definitely come back again as central for us seeing family. Opposite the cathedral which is a must for anyone visiting and on the edge of the centre of town so quiet. No noise from the pub, but next time I'll see if there is a room without the bathroom steps.
