About Abercrave Inn
A Sunday roast worth crossing Powys for is the standout feature at Abercrave Inn, a pub-hotel on Heol Tawe in Abercraf. The kitchen also turns out a well-regarded steak and ale pie, with gluten-free options catered for, and the restaurant and bar have built a reputation for food that is both good value and genuinely tasty.
Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms, and accessible rooms are available, along with the small comforts of free WiFi and drinks available in room. Breakfast is served each morning, and a 24 hour reception means arrivals are never a problem. Outside, there's a garden to sit in, and free on-site parking takes the hassle out of arriving by car. The place is kept spotless throughout, and staff are consistently described as friendly, though service can occasionally be slow to notice you.
Dare Valley Country Park gives walkers a reason to base themselves here, and the local area offers fishing, further pubs and restaurants, and plenty of walking country to explore. It's a straightforward, well-run stop in Powys built around a kitchen that punches above its weight.

What guests say
After booking this for a very reasonable price, we were looking forward to a night at what sounded like a fantastic place. On arrival the pub and the accommodation were completely shut. After ringing numerous times they returned the call to be confused as to who the booking was for and why we were there. We explained we’d chosen because of the food. However the pub is shut on Monday and Tuesday and this is not mentioned at all. Other customers came to be confused why it was all shut and closed, they claim they have AC but not ac vents were visible on accommodation building

We end up in this place cause it one of the last available. I do understand why now. Dirty rooms with smelling bath, ot pressure in water tubes. Mold in bathrooms. I suggest everyone to not go there. Forget about working wifi or functioning restaurant during week.

An absolutely beautiful place to visit. The customer service here was first class. If you’re in the area pop in and especially for A Sunday Roast! A well kept establishment and very reasonable on price. The place is absolutely spotlessly clean. We booked for four and a couple of dogs which are more than welcome in the bar area. The dinners were amazing and really tasty. 100% going back here again👌

Stayed one night after a long cycle from Bristol. For £60 it does the job - comfy bed, quiet spot on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, easy to find just off the main road near Ystradgynlais. The main let-down was the welcome. Check-in felt cold and transactional - no warmth, no effort to make guests feel anything other than an inconvenience. No mention of breakfast, facilities, or anything else. Hospitality was noticeably absent and could be improved upon. This seems similar to what guests have noted. The room itself needed some attention - unhoovered carpets, a tired shower, some ceiling damage, and a TV that wouldn't look out of place on an airplane. Fine for the price, but worth knowing. We didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. One note for cyclists: no indoor bike storage, so bring a lock 👍
