The Old Net Shed
Aberdeenshire
The Old Net Shed stands on the Aberdeenshire coast at Whitehills, where the front garden drops away sharply to the water below. This is a property for adults or families with older children who can be trusted near the edge; younger children will need constant supervision outdoors. What makes it distinct is this exposure to the sea itself—you can watch for dolphins from the windows, or sit on the patio with a drink as the sun sets over the water.
The cottage has two bedrooms (a kingsize four-poster and a double) and one bathroom upstairs, with the main living spaces on the ground floor: a sitting room with woodburner and 40-inch TV, a second reception room without a screen, and a kitchen with Rangemaster cooker and full equipment for serious cooking. Bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi and logs for the fire come as standard. The kitchen has slate floors and units made from reclaimed materials; the sitting room keeps painted wood panelling from its cottage past. An enclosed rear garden with patio offers a gentler outdoor space away from the cliff edge.
Three cars can park on site. The nearest town is Banff, and the Moray coast offers beaches, fishing villages and forest walks. No smoking indoors.
