About Tyn y Mur

Tyn y Mur sits just a 15-20 minute stroll from the bustling harbour village of Abersoch, making it one of the most convenient bases for exploring this trendy corner of the Llŷn Peninsula. Families keep returning generation after generation for the spotless four-star amenities block (including a family and disabled room), the popular on-site Snack Shack run by local lads, and the well-kept children's play area. The views are genuinely stunning, and staff go the extra mile with touches like a taxi service and strict 11pm quiet policy to keep the atmosphere peaceful.

The site can get very windy given its exposed position, but that coastal location also brings dolphins and seals into the bay and easy access to Abersoch's boat slip, restaurants and shops. Whether you're pitching a tent or parking a motorhome, facilities are comprehensive—from hook-ups and a motorhome service point to launderette, WiFi and charging facilities.

Just returned from our 2nd wonderful stay this year in our motorhome - my 20th year visiting Tyn- y -Mur, including 8 years on a seasonal pitch. We are delighted that our daughters are now bringing their own children to enjoy its magic! We particularly appreciate the peace enjoyed as a result of the 11pm curfew, and the pristine facilities and attention to detail. There are lots of extra touches on the site which give you the impression that the management really care. The sea views and the incredible sunsets are stunning, and you also have the bonus of a very reliable taxi service operating directly from the site. Thank you to the wardens, Zoltan & Lina for all your incredibly hard work to maintain the exceptionally high standards and for your consistent warm welcome - we very much look forward to seeing you again soon .

The campsite is 1.5 miles from Abersoch Harbour, with clear views over the countryside to the sea. According to Gov.uk there should be at least 6 metres between units – the sites on this site are incredibly small with no gaps. Tents are mixed in with caravans and motorhomes despite there being adequate space to place tents in a separate area. Thank goodness there was not a fire when we were there. Please check Camping and caravanning exemption certificates: model code of conduct - GOV.UK for full details of the guidance. The site is prone to the strong winds – lovely when it is hot and the breeze is a welcome relief, but even then it gets boring after a while. It is just 1.5 miles to Abersoch. There is a bus stop right outside the site – but actual buses are scarce. The road down to Abersoch itself is a busy lane, a steep hill, with no verge or footpath. Many vehicles do not slow down for pedestrians – it is not a pleasant walk. Fortunately the site manager happens to run a taxi business from the site – we decided to take advantage of this and booked a return ride from the site to the harbour, and back again a few hours later. Having looked on Uber the cost for the 1.5 mile was quoted as less than £4, although there was not a taxi available in the area – so imagine our surprise as paying site guests Lina’s charge for the return trip was £20! We paid it, but would not use it again! There is not much else to do from this site – there was no information on reception, no local knowledge was offered. On leaving we decided not to return. Oh and we also left the dog mess that greeted us when we set up our pitch. We always clear up after our own dog but I do not expect to clear our site of another dog’s mess.

We've just had a fabulous week here. Great family campsite. An 11pm curfew is perfect when you have little ones. (And big ones who like their sleep!) This creates a lovely atmosphere on site. Lina and Zoltan are so friendly and welcoming. The facilities were spotless, and the disabled and family bathroom was brilliant. The food van on site is also fab. I think their breakfast barm was possibly the best I've ever had! Thanks for a great week!

We’ve camping here as a family for years, back from when we had a seasonal pitch. We are always made to feel so welcome here. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and they are always around if you need them. We love that they give you a contact number at check-in so you can report any noise after 11 PM, and they genuinely don’t hesitate to go and sort it The site itself looks amazing, and that’s all down to Zoltan’s hard work—we really appreciate you. Plus, the shower blocks are constantly being disinfected! I’m honestly shocked reading some of the negative reviews on here. They don't describe the couples personality at all. Its clear that some people just don't like being called out when they break the rules! We’ve camped our whole lives and visited so many different places over the years, but in our opinion, this is hands-down the BEST family site in Abersoch. My advice is keep being you. You cant please everyone. You are doing a brilliant job.
