Afon Braint Certificated Location

The campsite itself is absolutely fine. A little bit weird as it seems to be just 5 van pitches, However, it was clean and well kept with good toilets, disposal and washing up area. My main issue with this site was my interactions with the owners. After reading the other low rated reviews on Google, I am expecting Nick to reply to me telling me I was aggressive etc. The initial thing that rang alarm bells was there seem to be a lot of rules, eg. no movement of vehicles before or after certain times. maybe after 8pm and before 8am? Although I could be wrong about these times. I just remember thinking that for a site where your accommodation is also your transport, you may well wish to leave in your vehicle to go for dinner or anything else. I rang the campsite the day before to ask if there was any anywhere to park nearby for a friend who was going to walk to the beach with us. We were able to park my friend’s car in the public café that the site runs, And he reminded me that there was strictly no visitors to the site. Even though I hadn’t mentioned anyone visiting I just wanted parking recommendations. When we arrived, there was a main gate with a chain and padlock That was access to the café/car park and then another gate with a key fob to get into the camping area. The owner came and let us in and gave me a lengthy tour of all the services which was great, if not a little overkill. Although I’m not complaining and the services they have are well kept and appreciated. The next morning we were leaving the site at about 7:30 am , My friend was out the van opening the gate with the fob whilst a woman who was out jogging, probably in her late 20s was letting herself into the café car park. Her and my friend had a small interaction, I didn’t think anything of it and we left the site for a couple of hours. On my return, Nick pulled me to one side as if I was about to be told off and advised me there had been been intruders onto the site that had been climbing over fences and the information building and around the vans and asked me what I could tell him about this. I was very confused and shocked at the thought that someone had broken in overnight. He then pretty much accused me of letting her in And advise that he would be calling the police and I needed to be available for an interview. This was incredibly embarrassing and at that point I was ready to leave the campsite. He then approached me about this later the same day advising that she had broken in during the night, stolen things from the site, stashed them between some vehicles on the site and had come back during daylight hours, alone, wearing nothing but jogging shorts and a crop top, with no bag, to collect what she had stolen. This didn’t really make sense to me? And when I asked him what had been stolen, he told me he wasn’t able to tell me and then said that tourist often burgle his campsite and bring a crime to the area. I’m really unsure what anyone would be able to steal from a campsite and I’m not sure why someone would break in during the night and return during daylight hours to collect their swag. The general vibe of the two men at the campsite was incredibly uncomfortable and we left a day early as we couldn’t bear to stay there another night. I would like to say that I remained respectful and calm throughout all these interactions but I fully expect, based on the responses to any other complaints, that Nick will make this somehow about me. It feels like he was upset that I didn’t stop someone coming into the café car park and fabricated a story about a young girl coming to burgle a campsite. I don’t really feel like it is my job to stop people coming in the main café gate, especially if he’s not actually going to lock the gate but just put a chain around it for show?

Fantastic Stay at Afon Braint Campsite We had a brilliant stay at Afon Braint campsite and will definitely be returning. Nick, the owner, was incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived—nothing was too much trouble, and he really made us feel welcome. The location itself is absolutely beautiful. You’re surrounded by stunning scenery, with incredible wildlife right on your doorstep. The nearby beaches are fantastic, and the whole area is rich in history, making it perfect whether you want to relax or explore. A real hidden gem—highly recommended!

Came on our first outing of 2026 - had a lovely quiet 2-nighter. The facilities are fabulous and loos spotless. Nick was friendly greeting us and giving us a quick tour where everything was. Didn’t use the cafe - but will do next time! Well recommended and we will be back 👍

We’ve had an absolutely fantastic stay at this pristine, well-kept, gorgeous establishment with clean and tidy amenities. Nick has been an absolute gem to us, especially when placing our pizza order for delivery to our van! The area is very peaceful, surrounded by fields and wonderful views. You’ll hear the occasional animal sound but we’ve had the best night sleep ever in our van! Large gravel pitches with EHU available and benches for families. Wonderful pricing, fabulous to have the option to grab a coffee and patisserie from the cosy cafe in the morning. 10/10, will certainly be back. Thank you! Holly
