The Ship and Anchor Marina

Station Road, Ford, Arundel BN18 0BJ, UK

Riverside campsite and marina beside the River Arun at Ford, three miles from Arundel

About The Ship and Anchor Marina

The Ship and Anchor Marina sprawls across 12 grassy acres on the River Arun at Ford, built around a pub and marina that's occupied this riverside spot since 1664. With around 190 pitches for tents, caravans and motorhomes—many with hardstanding and electric hook-up—it's one of the few campsites in this corner of Sussex to offer a genuinely waterside setting, complete with boat slipway and kayak hire for anyone keen to get out on the Arun itself.

The on-site pub serves food from breakfast onward and there's a campsite shop for essentials, plus showers, a children's play area and cycle hire. Ford station is walkable and Arundel—with its castle and cathedral—is a short pedal or drive upstream. Reviews note the unbeatable location for the price, though some feel the facilities could do with a refresh and the pub can get lively on summer evenings. Open March to October, it's a straightforward riverside base for anglers, paddlers and anyone after an affordable stopover near Arundel without the town-centre premium.

Great campsite. Ignore reviews from the previous owner. We enjoyed the on site pub, which meant we could show up late and get a nice bite to eat and a beer before heading back to our campervan. They do a breakfast as well, but we had a cricket match to get to. The site isn't fancy, but it's clean and practical. Good washing and shower facilities, washing up, plus a shop open 9-5 for essentials. If we had more time we might have enjoyed the kayak rentals that were available. A nice spot, good value.

Had a lovely stay on the campsite over the last two nights. Staff were so welcoming and accommodating from start to finish. Camp store is well stocked, showers and toilets are kept lovely and clean all the time, and the pub next door was cosy for a drink or some food. Perfect location on the river to explore Arundel or the coast depending on which direction you wish to walk. And only a few minutes walk from the train station too. Highly recommend!

The campaite here was lovely. Very old school but you know what if it works then why change it. Toilets are old school but very clean intact couldn't fault the cleaning here top notch. Very friendly and easy to speak with on arrival walked us round and showed us the pitch and explained the toilets and wash station. Great campsite. Train station to little hampton 5 min walk up the road. (See separate post about pub not so great experience)

Lovely kept campsite. Quiet, clean and tidy with all yhe facilities you need including a little shop for essentials. Pub was great too - very welcoming with nice beer on draught and tasty food at reasonable prices. I'd recommend a visit to anyone in the area.
