About Smiddy Haugh Hotel
Smiddy Haugh Hotel suits visitors after a straightforward, no-frills stay rather than a grand hotel experience: five rooms above a working pub, in the middle of Auchterarder and within easy reach of Gleneagles and Stirling. It's the sort of place that works well for golf trips, dog owners on the road, or anyone wanting a cosy, unpretentious base in Perth and Kinross.
Rooms are kept clean and well-maintained, with Sky Sports on the television for those who want to catch a match, plus free WiFi and air conditioning. Downstairs, the restaurant and bar are the real heart of the place, serving hearty pub food including a well-regarded steak pie and Sunday roast, with breakfast also available. A log fire adds warmth to the bar area, and there's a garden for those milder days.
Staff are attentive and known for going out of their way to help, and pets are genuinely welcome throughout. Free on-site parking makes it easy to arrive by car, and 24-hour reception means there's flexibility around check-in. Prices are reasonable, making it a sensible choice for travellers exploring Auchterarder and the surrounding area without needing extensive facilities.

What guests say
We visited to celebrate my son’s graduation and had a fantastic experience. From the moment I phoned to make the booking, the staff were warm, welcoming and genuinely accommodating. They made a fuss of our dog straight away and, when we arrived, brought water and treats for him, which was such a lovely touch. The food was really great, with generous portions and everything beautifully prepared. The service throughout was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. They also kindly brought out my son’s graduation cake for us, helping to make the celebration extra special. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and we felt very well looked after. A wonderful, dog-friendly restaurant with excellent food and outstanding customer service. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it. Thank you ♥️

This is a little gem Its a lovely old pub with friendly helpful staff that make you feel welcome as soon as you step through the door. Rooms are clean and fresh with everything you need, good size bathroom and sky channels on the tv. Nice outside garden area where you can have a meal or a drink. We arrived on burger thursday so had the burger. Great food and absolute bargain for the price. Slept great as the bed was lovely Breakfast was nice, went for the syrup pacakes with bacon. Really enjoyed our stay, would go back again and again

Stopped in here for lunch for the first time and it was a brilliant find. From the moment we walked in, the welcome set the tone. Really friendly staff, proper warm smiles, the kind of greeting that makes you instantly glad you chose a place. We shared the baked Brie to start, which was rich, gooey, and gone far too quickly. For mains, I went for the chickpea burger and my wife had the macaroni cheese. Both were lovely, comforting, well-cooked dishes that felt like honest pub food done properly rather than anything overcomplicated. It’s the sort of place that just feels easy to relax in. Good food, welcoming atmosphere, and service that actually makes a difference. Definitely one we’d recommend and happily come back to again

A fantastic stay from start to finish. The room was incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean, and very well looked after: from the bedding to the furniture, everything feels high quality. The bathroom was huge and equally well maintained. The food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast, which was a real highlight. The owners were lovely and very attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. We couldn’t recommend it more.
