After reading some of the reviews, I was dreading my stay. However I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by a really lovely lady on reception who held my bags for me as I was early for check in. The room itself was basic but clean. I got a choice of ground floor or a room with a "view" (which was pretty good!). I didn't experience any issues with noise and the location was perfect. Breakfast isn't worth it as it is just a box with some cereal, milk and pastries, but there's so many lovely options nearby. I'll be staying here again next time I'm in the area for work.

Quite spacious and very good location. Walking distance from attractions. Busy central place, noise can be a bit of annoyance. There is no brakefast bar but Wetherspoon is litreally next door, even better.

Dreadful hotel. Paid £116 for one night. Turned up at the hotel and the guy behind the counter (who wasn't even there initially) didn't greet me, no eye contact and appeared visibly irritated and unfriendly. I checked in and went to my room on the 1st floor and it stank of cigarettes, whether this was recent, I don't know. Also I was in a dead zone, I could get no mobile data or signal - I couldn't even make a phone call. So I went to the reception to explain these issues and have my room changed and to inquire about the dead zone. No apology for the smell in the room and he miserably explained that the data/signal is just like that in that area of Bath. Bearing in mind this is in the city centre, so I wasn't buying that. He gave me my new room on the 2nd floor and I asked what can be done re the dead zone. His tone started to change while he explained about the 30 mins free WiFi and was expecting me to buy more WiFi. I said are you seriously expecting me to buy WiFi when you know you're in a dead zone and how am I supposed to communicate with anyone and his tone changed even more, said it's like that here and threw his hands out and shrugged like this 🤷 I ended up walking off in frustration and he proceeds to shout at me from inside his reception booth telling me to "check my attitude". It was his unhelpfulness, unprofessionalism, lack of concern and overall his bad attitude that made me walk off. I came back shortly to drop off the previous key and he proceeded to lecture me again about my apparent attitude, which then ended up in an altercation as I quite frankly am not being spoken to in such a disrespectful manner. Given that guests may be unable to make calls or use the internet in some rooms, expecting me to pay for WiFi to compensate feels unreasonable. A simple gesture of complimentary WiFi would have resolved the matter. Once again I walked off saying I'm not arguing anymore for him to continue shouting at me again from the reception. There were other people around as well which was embarrassing. The second room was better, didn't smell and thankfully I was able to get 5G and full phone signal, so it seems like it's some parts of the hotel that are dead zones, not the area of Bath we were in, which is what the receptionist claimed. Presumably as the room I was in was at the top of the hotel. The only thing going for this hotel is the location, but even then the noise at night was an issue. I'm not expecting luxury from a TravelLodge, but I've stayed in much better, cleaner and more professional TravelLodges in places not deemed as nice as Bath where you would expect that. The two receptionists I dealt with earlier in the day to drop my bags were polite and helpful. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Don't waste your money here, there are plenty of other decent hotels dotted around. I'd rather spend a little extra for a better experience.

Freezing room, sewage smell, and no sleep I recently stayed at Travelodge Bath Central and unfortunately had a very poor experience. The room was freezing cold on arrival, with only a very small heater in the corner that had been turned off at the wall and needed resetting before it worked at all. The bathroom is in serious need of upgrading. It felt old and unclean, there was a strong sewage smell, and the pipes were extremely noisy in the early morning. Overall, the condition of the room felt quite grim and run down. Another issue was the lack of staff availability. The front desk did not appear to be regularly manned, so there was no one to speak to about the problems when they occurred. I was also in Room 7, which backs onto the car park, and the noise from bins being filled or emptied at around 6am was so loud that it was impossible to sleep through. On top of that, the car park behind the hotel was being resurfaced from around 7am, which was extremely loud. Because the room faces directly onto this area, there was also very little privacy unless the curtains were kept fully closed. Overall, the hotel feels tired and very unappealing. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant stay or a decent night’s sleep.
