Belfast's accommodation is concentrated in the city itself, ranging from grand landmark hotels to small guesthouses in the terraced streets around the university. The Europa Hotel and Ten Square Hotel sit right in the centre, close to the Cathedral Quarter and City Hall, useful if you want to walk everywhere and be near the restaurants and bars in the evening.

Further out towards Ravenhill and the leafy south Belfast avenues, guesthouses such as Ravenhill House, Roseleigh House and An Old Rectory offer a quieter, more residential base, often in converted Victorian townhouses with a personal touch. Tara Lodge and The Regency fall somewhere between the two, well placed for the Botanic and Queen's Quarter areas.

For something distinctive, The Harrison Chambers of Distinction and The Flint bring individual character to their rooms, while Millbrae Lodges suits those wanting more independence. Choice largely comes down to whether you want to be in the thick of the city centre or a short bus or taxi ride from it.
