A straightforward town-centre base in Bicester for a night out, a Sunday roast or a stopover before shopping, with free parking included.

About The Kings Arms Hotel

Anyone wanting a simple, sociable base in the middle of Bicester rather than a countryside retreat will find The Kings Arms Hotel does the job well. Set on Market Square, it suits visitors after an evening out, a family Sunday lunch or a convenient stop before a day at the outlet shopping, rather than those chasing a polished boutique stay.

Rooms come with en-suite bathrooms and the usual practical extras, including free WiFi and drinks available in room, with accessible rooms also on offer. The hotel has a restaurant and bar on site, serves breakfast, and has built something of a following for its Sunday roast and cocktails, alongside a generally warm and welcoming feel from the team. That said, some rooms can show signs of wear, and service isn't always as attentive as it should be, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly.

There's outdoor seating and a picnic area for those who want to eat outside, plus meeting rooms and a bridal suite for events, with the hotel also used as a wedding venue. Free on-site parking is provided, and the location puts guests within reach of nearby pubs, restaurants, entertainment and a golf course, making it a workable base for exploring Bicester itself.

I booked Room 12 for one night. For my wife and i following our visit to Waddesdon Manor. It was £107 and advertised as having an extra large double bed. Good features included free parking, a reasonable size room and double. Less so are the shower attachments which are better suited to very short customers and water pressure may be an issue. Under new management the staff (particularly Eze who went the e tra mile to help) are eager to please. Breakfast deal in impressive, £10 for two, £6.99 for one! Mine arrived freshly cooked and hot. Bear in mind it has 2st and 2nd floor rooms and no lift, and their current phone number is challenging to obtain. I got it via booking.com's emergency whatsapp no! The hotel is in the town centre although the other pubs are of the sports variety and associated clienale. There is a good Indian Restaurant nearby.

I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the whole visit very pleasant. The atmosphere was lovely, and there was a man playing live music which made the experience even more special and enjoyable. It created a very relaxing and warm environment. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again. 🎶🍽️✨

Not sure how to phrase this but the place is an absolute dump. Room was disgusting, twin room. One bed had no head board and was a sprung uncomfortable mattress dared not look at actual mattress. Tea and coffee stains down fireplace that was only flat area to make a drink. Carpet resembles a crime scene. Place was filthy. Down for F1 gp no rooms available in the town and would have gone elsewhere if we could. Booked for 2 nights was up and out by 6am and not staying 2nd night. Reported room , staff totally uninterested. Nothing but a hovel

The last time we tried to have breakfast at The King's Arms, we'd just missed the cut-off - breakfast only served until 11am we were told. Knowing this, we visited at 10am this time - to be greeted by a sign outside that said weekend breakfast was only served until 10am! On asking inside, we were told that breakfast was indeed served until 11am... at which point we were asked did we want the "regular" breakfast to which our response was "Can we see a menu first!". The secret of comedy is timing... and timing seems to be where The King's Arms struggles. Printed in the menu (along with numerous spelling errors), it states that breakfast is served until 10:30am... so 3 different versions of meal times to choose from. Save yourself the trouble though, as even if you hit one of the right timings, it's not worth the wait. Despite us being the only 2 people there, we then waited 25 mins for our cooked breakfasts to arrive.... only to find the only hot things on the plate were the sausage and bacon (although my partner then had to send her bacon back as it was not cooked enough for her liking). Whilst waiting for the bacon to return, an exploration of the rest of the meal found the eggs, mushrooms and even the beans were room temperature at best. But these were 5* compared to the hash browns which were actually cold inside... as if they'd been defrosted and then plonked straight on the plate bypassing the deep fat fryer entirely on their journey from freezer to plate. After a 25 minute wait for cold food, we were not willing to wait for this to be rectified and offered to pay for our drinks before leaving. The fact they didn't take payment for our tea and coffee is why this review is 2* instead of just 1*! (For context, we walked down the high street to another venue that was absolutely packed, but received our hot food, all well cooked, within 10 minutes of ordering... that's how things should be!) Not a great experience at The King's Arms, and definitely not in a rush to try again. Disappointing.
