About Knowle Donkey Sanctuary Campsite
Tucked away on a working farm just 10 minutes from Solihull, Knowle Donkey Sanctuary offers something genuinely special: the chance to spend time with the resident donkeys who give the site its name. Kids (and adults) can share cuddles with these gentle characters, while free-range eggs and honey from the farm's hives are available to buy – perfect for breakfast back at your pitch.
The site itself is intimate, with just a handful of neat gravel and grass pitches enjoying countryside views. Facilities are basic – there are no toilets or showers – but essentials like water, chemical disposal, and recycling are all present, plus a dedicated dog run for four-legged guests. Barbecues are welcome at pitches, and for those evenings when you'd rather not cook, a food pub sits just five minutes' walk away along the Birmingham Canal.
Access couldn't be simpler: the site is less than 10 minutes from Junction 5 of the M42, making it an easy escape from the city yet still wonderfully rural in feel.

What visitors say
This donkey sanctuary is such a lovely, calm place to come for an hour or so. The owner & staff are so friendly and knowledgeable which is great to see, you can tell how much they care for their animals! This sanctuary is capable of so much, would love to see this place grow as these donkeys are clearly well looked after. Definitely worth visiting and learning about rescuing donkeys! :)

We had an absolutely excellent experience at the donkey sanctuary! It is such a rare find these days—completely free to enter and, much to our delight, there were no queues at all. The highlight was definitely the interaction; we were able to get up close and touch the donkeys, who all seemed very well-loved and calm. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They also have a lovely small cafe on-site which was perfect for a quick bite after wandering around. If you’re looking for a peaceful, hands-on, and budget-friendly day out, I cannot recommend this place enough!

Hi I’m a Mental Health support worker and I look for places to take the Residents I take care of , this place is amazing and they don’t even charge but we gave a donation as we would have been happy to have paid on entry. The people running the place are so lovely they have a little cafe that does proper breakfast I must go back and try ! There’s a little shop and a toilet, I’m not allowed to show the look on my residents face due too Data protection but I wish I could have because he was beaming Thank You for making one of our People really Happy and you are all genuinely kind and caring to both Animals and the people who visit ❤️

The donkey sanctuary is a lovely place. We come about once a month and my daughter loves it here. The volunteers are great and friendly. We usually get a brunch at the onsite cafe, then my daughter gets to see the donkeys, alpacas and chickens and play outside, whilst I have a coffee. Win win.
