WOW! great experience all round. I booked the Prisoner Experience as a birthday gift for my husband. We were given the tour of the hotel building, inc the basement areas and were given just the right amount of information and history by the knowledgeable guide (Tamar). Our meal was great, loved the pie! And they very kindly gave my husband an extra edible treat for his birthday (no spoilers). Our room was lovely and a lot of thought has gone in to the whole refurb of the building (well done Tudor). The price included entry to the museum which was also amazing, very interesting and informative, but in short snippets so its easy to take in and very visual. Not scary at all, "we are not a scare attraction" was said. You do go to some dark areas, but these adds to the films and effects that you see. No-one leaps out at you so don't be afraid. For the Prisoner Experience and considering the price of hotel rooms of this level, it was good value for money. I will definitely be returning to the restaurant to try the afternoon tea in the near future! All the staff were lovely too.

absolutely brilliant came here as a wheelchair user for my mum’s 50th. staff cannot do enough for you!! special shoutout to warren and leesa but all staff were wonderful. warren helped me multiple times with the metal ramp and accessible room was fantastic, restaurant was inaccessible had i been alone, however food made up for this!! as the building is listed not all areas can be made accessible but they have really tried where possible and it’s great!

We definately fell in love with this hotel. It was amazing, photos dont do it justice. Staff were wonderful friendly and knowledgeable nothing was too much trouble. Special mention for becky chloe and claire who served breakfast they were wonderful breakfast was amazing a lot of choice. Also the pet sausage for pepper our dog was a great touch. Rooms were lovely and very spacious My husband had a pet room which had pet bed blanket dog treats pet bags and 2 dog bowls on the ground floor. Freestanding bath in rooms were a fabulous touch and the toiletries by noble isle smelt gorgeous. The lady in the gift shop was lovely. Will definately be back next year. Sad to come home.

The hotel itself and the rooms are fantastic. The reception staff were great. The disappointment came with the food quality and the Service received in the restaurant.. They call the restaurant “ À la carte” It is far from this, the only thing à la carte was the portion sizes, that is as far as it goes. Firstly, we had to carry out own drinks to the restaurant( This may seem a little picky but is customary for the waiter to put your drinks on a tray and carry them for you in an à la carte setting ) The food was disappointing, they had run out of the scallops to start, the hotel was not exactly busy, so this was Surprising, especially given the small menu choice . I opted instead for the asparagus Which were bland and underwhelming although cooked well, The my husband had the pate this was reasonable. The lamb overcooked, the side of carrots practically raw not al dente, the turbot was overcooked and extremely bland In the asparagus purée accompaniment. At no point throughout the service did anybody ask if our meal was okay, They did not seem to be any maître D, When asked the server had no idea how the ceviche was presented and made no attempt to find somebody that knew the menu. Throughout our meal, we were watching customers who had asked for the bill having to get up and go to the counter to remind them and pay. In my opinion, this restaurant would do better not claiming to be à la carte and just being Gastro Pub food, like the bar food that was being served. We went to reception and explained our disappointment, although sympathetic their response was but you paid for it… ( It was not about the money I did not request a refund, It was about the price versus the quality versus the standard of service that was disappointing) It seemed very peculiar that the food was not added on our hotel bill and you had to pay for the food in the restaurant, It gave me the opinion that the restaurant was disconnected from the hotel. A couple stood behind us while we were talking to the receptionist about our disappointment with the meal , a couple who we’ve seen in the restaurant at the same time as are selfs, we asked their experience of The Ali cart dining and their response was “it was ok, not great” With a bill of over £200 for a two course meal, I would recommend sticking to the bar menu. Breakfast was nice. I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel, although I had an upset stomach the whole following day.
