About Halfway House Inn

Tucked behind a handsome 16th-century Shropshire pub on the edge of Bridgnorth, this adults-only site offers a handful of neatly kept hardstanding pitches for tourers and motorhomes – all with electric hook-up and their own water tap. The facilities are spotless (warm showers, dedicated washing-up area, and 24/7 pub loos in season), though pitches can feel a touch close together if the site is full.

The real draw here is the pub itself: charming beamed interiors, excellent homemade food Thursday to Monday, and a solid real-ale selection if you fancy a pint without leaving camp. Golfers and anglers are well served, with 14 courses within an hour's drive and fishing on the nearby River Severn, while walkers can strike out into the surrounding countryside. Friendly, helpful owners complete the picture, making this a relaxed, no-frills base for exploring south Shropshire.

We stayed on the touring campsite so I can’t give a room rating. When we arrived, Peter greeted us and we asked him which way we needed to walk into Bridgnorth. He said, as he was going to Sainsbury’s nearby, he’d drop us off there. What a service! We got an Uber back which was only £5. We decided to eat in the pub restaurant that night as we felt it was the least we could do to repay Peter’s kindness. We are so glad we did. The food was superb and the portions extremely generous. Bang went my diet! My husband said it was the best curry he’d ever had. The pub is quaint and not very big so I’d recommend booking a table if you want to eat there. Campsite showers and toilets were clean and functional. If this pub was local to us (sadly it isn’t), then I think we’d be regular diners there. We both agreed that it was the best meal out we’d had in a very long time.

We stayed in the hotel’s caravan park, so did not have a room as such. It was a lovely site. Pre-arrival communications were good, and the owners were flexible and helpful when we requested a different pitch. It was easy to find. The site is relatively small, but each pitch had its own water and electricity supply. The shower / toilet block was warm, the showers were lovely and hot, everything worked well, and the site was neat and tidy. We ate at the hotel twice; excellent food and generous portions. The staff and owners couldn’t have been more helpful; excellent customer service. The site was well located for visits to Bridgnorth and the Severn Valley Railway, Shrewsbury, the RAF museum at Cosford, and the Coalbrookdale museums at Ironbridge.

My husband and I stayed over on the touring pitches for a couple of days over the Easter period. We went for good meal Sunday night and it was delicious. The facilities are very well maintained and clean and tidy. Staff were lovely and friendly welcoming. We will book again soon as we had a great relaxing break
