Crown & Trumpet Inn

We have eaten at this pub several times before and the food and service has always been exceptional. On a recent visit we thought we would go there again. When ordering at the bar I was aware that the cost was more than I expected so queried this. I was informed that the 'boss had decided to add on a 10% service charge to pay the youngsters! Decided to leave and they lost our custom. Alway happy to tip if srvice deserves it but this should not be obligatory. Also legally needs to be clearly stated on the menu which to my recollection it wad not. Had a delicious meal at the Horse and Hound instead.

Love this pub. We stayed there some time back. So this review is overdue. Nevertheless, it was a joy to find a proper local freehouse. I'm fed up with bland corporate gastro pubs. Great music in the evening. Good beer, good company. Andrew, the owner, is a great bloke. Rooms were perfectly reasonable.

If you love pubs, go to this pub. One of the best pubs we have visited in terms of staff, quality of beer, and atmosphere. Good mix of locals and tourists/walkers. Come here for a quiet pint or a friendly chat. We stopped here on our Cotswold Way journey and regretted not booking a room at this lovely establishment. The best pub on the Cotswold Way by far.

We booked this pub for our pre wedding pub grub get together, we've been many times and been treated so well. This was a discernaible difference.in choice of venue to our wedding venue to the next day. There was 15 of us and we booked back at the beginning of 2026. Asked for a deposit of £120, which we happily paid. Sadly, Steve, the cook was overheard vocally moaning as he couldn't believe they'd allowed 15 people for food on a bank holiday weekend!! Amusingly we'd had to pre-order! On speaking to the 'cook' he shrugged his shoulders and frankly didn't give two hoots about his attitude or the disgraceful food he served to some of the guests. The fish smelt rank and was inedible, the rest of the food was not made with love either. The bar staff were lovely and great with our dog, thank you, however also complaining about the "massive drinks order" (of 5 at a time) was not professional and considering the state of the hospitality industry these days, you would expect a better service, Broadway or not! We ordered only a handful of drinks at a time to make it easier, we were considerate to the staff, other guests and size of the pub. You were paid well over £350 not including drinks, or the two rooms and you ruined our pre wedding night. Cheers! Ps. The garlic bread is amazing but thats Caroline's, not Steve's!
