About Ysgubor Wen Eco Camping
Tucked into its own five-acre nature reserve in the North Wales countryside, Ysgubor Wen Eco Camping is as close to wild camping as you'll get with facilities. This adults-only, tents-only site offers just a handful of private pitches, each carved into separate meadow or woodland plots where long grasses, wildflowers and mature trees create natural screening. It's been nurtured for wildlife for nearly 30 years, and the lack of light pollution makes it superb for stargazing around your own firepit.
After parking at the entrance, you'll wheel your gear down via wheelbarrow – the site operates a strict no-car policy to preserve its tranquil character. Facilities are deliberately minimal: two composting toilets with sinks and a washing-up area, but no hot water. That's the trade-off for this kind of remote serenity, fifteen minutes from Snowdonia National Park with views toward Snowdon itself, plus the coast just five minutes away. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome year-round.

What a stunning site! This was our first time at an eco campsite and we really loved it. We took 2 dogs who had a great time. The woodland pitch we had was secluded and like our own little piece of paradise. Caught a beautiful sunset disappearing over the hills and across the sea. The whole site is thoughtfully laid out, with pitches shaped into the meadows as if they've always been there. You can't see or hear any other campers. The compost toilets are really lovely inside, much better than other normal campsite toilets I've experienced. The owners are super friendly and even let us switch pitches to the woodland one as they didn't have anyone booked into it. We really enjoyed our stay and wish we had booked in for longer! Thanks so much x

Jane and Mike's place is easily one of the top campsites to visit in the UK. Their consciousness around providing a comfortable and quiet place to chill is equal to their consciousness to do that in harmony with nature. It's very peaceful and you get plenty of space to have your own private area. It sounds kinda weird but I absolutely loved the compost toilets. They are fantastic and cleaner than any camping toilet I've seen but they've also made them so homely with thoughtful touches on local information, real flowers and extra bits you might need. Easily the #1 camping I would recommend in this area. We will be back one day!

This place is gorgeous! We spent a lovely night here and are so pleased we found it. The facilities are lovely and clean, really loved the composting toilets it’s something I’ve never seen before! The pitches are so far apart and the grass is high so it feels like you’re completely alone in this beautiful site, really allowing you to enjoy your stay rather than being close to other people and conscious of them. We slept well as it is very quiet and relaxing. Jane - who met us when we arrived - was so accommodating and made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back!

What an absolutely stunning pitch, beautiful views of the lush green hills of west Wales, peace and quiet (and of course being Wales) the rain in the night! If you’re looking for a back to nature, adult only (no screaming children) with great walks nearby this is the place to come! The privacy we felt being tucked away with no close neighbours is just perfect & I think a big selling point of this campsite! Thanks to Jane & Mike!
