About The Cottage Fields
Fancy rolling straight out of bed and onto the beach? The Cottage Fields delivers exactly that – this tiny Carmarthenshire site sits right beside Llansteffan's sands, separated only by a low wall. With space for just a handful of pitches, it's gloriously uncommercial: no showers, no toilets, just a water tap and disposal point at the farmhouse, plus permission to light campfires and barbecues under the stars.
What it lacks in facilities it more than makes up for in location. The beach is your playground for swimming, kayaking, rockpooling and bodysurfing, while the coastal path leads up to the castle or down into the village, where you'll find a couple of pubs, a shop, a pizza takeaway and a bakery turning out fresh bread each morning. Ferries and boat trips leave from here too.
The vibe is relaxed and family-friendly, with dogs welcome year-round and plenty of space for kids to roam. It's proper wild camping in a spectacular setting – just don't expect modern conveniences.

What visitors say
What a place! The location is unbeatable – right next to the beach (just hop over the wall) with stunning soft sand and clear water. The village is only a 10-minute walk away, with pizza, breakfast spots, bars, pubs, and super friendly people. There’s also the beautiful Llansteffan Castle nearby, which is definitely worth a visit. The campsite itself is simple but perfect. There’s only a cold water tap, but that’s all we needed. Rubbish is self-sorted, and there’s an empty point for caravans next to the owner’s house. It really gives you that wild camping feel, but with just the right touches of convenience. The owner is such a lovely man – he makes you feel completely at home. We arrived late evening/early night with no booking, rang the number on the entry pole, and he came down straight away. With a big smile, he helped us find a place to pitch, no issues at all. He even checked in daily for a quick chat and to see if we needed anything. Highly recommend this spot – peaceful, welcoming, and right by the sea. We’ll definitely be back!

What an absolute pleasure it was to stay here, 4 nights of pure beachside bliss! And a proper Carmarthenshire welcome from Rod! What an amazing, hardworking, family orientated gentleman his is! Water tap and elsan point sorted. Views to die for! Recycling and rubbish, just take it home and sort it out yourself, no problem. Super friendly village with a little shop, church and 2 pubs next door to each other! What more can you ask for! Can't wait to come back! 💕
