The Lookout

Pendine's wide beach and resort facilities are on your doorstep, but The Lookout itself sits back on a hillside, looking out over the sands. The whole property is yours alone, spread across one floor with a double bedroom, bunk room, and shower room, plus a living space that opens onto a terrace. The kitchen has what you need to cook properly—oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave—and there's a hot tub for four on the terrace, private to the cottage. Heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included; one car can park on site.

The Sands themselves are a seven-mile stretch of sand backed by the holiday park and scattered with cafés and pubs. A ten-minute drive takes you to Laugharne, where Dylan Thomas's boathouse sits on the River Taf, or you can reach Tenby, Saundersfoot and Carmarthen within half an hour. For walkers and families wanting a beach base without fuss, the location works well. One well-behaved dog can stay free. No smoking indoors.
