Ty-Gwyn stands at the end of a farm drive in Cynheidre, elevated among rolling fields midway between Llanelli and Carmarthen. The 18th-century cottage has kept its character—exposed beams, tiled floors, an ornate fireplace in the parlour—but works as a straightforward family base. You get three bedrooms (a double, two singles, and a bunk) sharing one bathroom, plus two living spaces: the main room for eating and watching television, and a quieter parlour with a piano if you want it.
The kitchen has an electric cooker and microwave for everyday cooking. An enclosed garden with sitting-out area looks over the farm. You can park three cars on site. One dog stays free. Essentials like electricity, heating, bed linen, towels and wifi are covered; a travel cot and highchair are available. No smoking inside.
A walking and cycling path lies half a mile away. Kidwelly Castle, Pembrey Country Park and Cefn Sidan beach are close enough for day trips, as are the National Botanic Gardens and the Gower Peninsula. Ffos Las Racecourse is two miles off. Shops, pubs and a restaurant are about a mile away in the direction of Cynheidre.

I absolutely fell in love with this place as soon as I walked through the door. Proper old farmhouse in a working farm...with that comes the foibles you'd associate with an old farmhouse but I won't go into them here. The weather was very unkind to us but the view of the rain and clouds outside the dining hall window was to die for. The owners are around but don't bother you and we were in a great base to wander out each day. You definitely need a car because you are literally in the middle of nowhere. Llanelli is quite close by car, we bought food at takeaways there, and from the local McColls/Morrisons. The guy in the latter was dead friendly and helpful. There's a landline in the farmhouse! In the evenings, because of the atrocious weather, we spent our time on Netflix or watching a DVD, or playing cards (which we left there in the cabinet in the Tele room downstairs if you need them) sometimes with a local beer to hand. Accomodation price was soooooo inexpensive it was unbelievable really. There were sheep around us in the fields and the dog could come with us as long as he was on lead when out and didn't get on the beds. Highly recommend! There are three bedrooms. One with a double, one with two singles and one with a bunk bed. Oil central heating and double glazed with secondary glazing. Thank you to all concerned.

Lovely old farmhouse! Set on a working farm. Original stone floors and wooden rafters. Owners are helpful and very friendly, and are happy to recommend places to eat or local interests. Great base for exploring the local area. Great garden for dogs and children. Cwitchy Canines dog park is only 15 minutes away by car. And offer doggy day care and socialising classes. Llanelli Beach is close by too. Beautiful glow in the twin bedroom in the morning 🌄
