What a beautiful place for a walk and bird spotting, I went for an escorted walk with one of the Rangers Keith. Today was perfect weather and not too hot. There is a guest centre and plenty of parking. We had a brief look in the centre then went off for a walk just to think that this was the site of a dump many years back. The trails are well maintained and a sense that the workers care about the space. We so many different types of birds from dippers to reed warblers, we had a Kestrel circling the fields and got to see a white throat and a couple of sky larks.

What a lovely peaceful unspoilt place to visit/walk, with or without dogs, bring your camera and you'll be amazed at the wildlife you see! Everytime I visit I come away having to look up to find the name of the species of butterfly/bird/ frog/ dragon fly I've seen! Enjoy. Cafe on site and toilets.

It was our first time to a RSPB reserve and we had a lovely time. Staff/volunteers at the visitors centre were really friendly, helpful and generous to us. It was simple but you could have a sit down, get a hot drink, a slice of cake and look at information/a map and there were well maintained toilets. We went on a short walk in the reserve which we enjoyed with a highlight being seeing a swan on her nest. It was peaceful with only a few other people around. There was a lot we didn't see as its quite big so can't comment on the whole reserve. We would love to go back one day to go further and see more birds and scenery.

Lovely walking with plenty to see. Went with a 9 year old who loved using the merlin app to hear what birds were around. Muddy in places but only to be expected. Very friendly ladies in the visitor centre who gave good advice about the area and where we could let the dog off the lead. Will definitely go back when it's a bit drier under foot.
