Byeways - Railway Carriage

Chichester

View on Google Maps

Selsey beach is a short drive away, with a seaside promenade ideal for afternoon walks, a children's playground, and plenty of fish and chip shops along the front. The lifeboat station museum is also nearby. Byeways is a working railway carriage from 1897, removed from the tracks in 1930 and adapted into a substantial holiday home with space enough for two families or a larger group to spread out comfortably.

The property has six bedrooms—one single, four doubles (including one with French doors to the garden), and one with a sofa bed—across three bathrooms. Two full kitchens mean cooking needn't be a bottleneck; both have ovens, hobs and microwaves, and the main kitchen opens onto a patio with garden furniture and a gas barbecue. A living room with a smart TV, dining area and lawned garden complete the interior. Essentials including bed linen, towels, heating and wi-fi are provided. One dog stays free.

The carriage layout includes some narrow passages and steps between sections, which is worth knowing. Private parking fits four cars, with space for more on the road. Check-in is after 15:00 and checkout before 10:00. No smoking inside.
