Eight Bells Inn began life in the 14th century as lodgings and a bell store for the masons and monks working on St James' Church next door, and it retains the low beams, stone walls and worn flagstones that history implies, tucked away on Church Street just off the High Street.
The inn's six en suite bedrooms sit above a working gastropub known for locally sourced, seasonal cooking and a well-kept range of ales, making it as much a destination for dinner as for a night's stay.
Its quiet position just behind the main High Street gives it a slightly more secluded feel than hotels directly on the thoroughfare, while keeping everything in Chipping Campden within easy walking distance.

We were staying nearby in Cotswold House and spa. We walked over one night to have dinner in this lovely pub/restaurant. Very nice ambiance and outdoor seating. There was no host and we wondered until Jack came to our rescue and assisted us, even though he was at the bar, very friendly and welcoming man. The food was great.

We had a superb stay, room spotless, spacious bathroom with lovely large hot shower, breakfast and dinner beautifully cooked and served. Nothing too much trouble for the friendly staff. We will be back in the future. Thank you for making our visit to the cotswolds memorable.

The rooms are simple but got the job done. Water pressure was a bit lacking and are not too well insulated so that we heard the people from the room next door. Food in the pub and breakfast was very nice and the staff was super friendly.

Popped in for dinner and found it a bit of an average experience, slightly dissappointing when considering the price of the food. The service was just okay, the waitress seemed slightly annoyed to be tending to guests. Upon ordering the drinks (a diet coke) I asked if it could be brought out at the same time as the food and that was, for some reason, not possible. She was the one who filled the drink order so I don’t understand why she would not be able to wait to bring it out until the food arrived. It was a bizarre interaction. If the prices has been half of what they were, it would be an expected level of service but one does have higher expectations when the prices are also high.
