What diners say
This place is a real Bristol institution and often overlooked (hidden away under the Wetherspoons). We had such a lovely meal here, we had the Set Menu, which was pretty decent value really, given the quality of the ingredients. We had the steak rib on the bone and it was one of the best steaks we've had, the best in Bristol definitely. Also big recommend to some of their home-made icecreams to finish it all off. Service was great and it's a cool underground, romantic, venue.

Hands down, the best steak I've had so far! It is rare to find a place that truly masters a medium-rare steak (we chose ribeye), but they got the cook spot on. The accompanying sauces and fries were fantastic, and the red wine they recommended paired beautifully with the meal. If you are visiting Bristol, you definitely need to try this place at least once. It's a wonderful choice for a date night, but also a very solid alternative for business dinners. Highly recommended!

Never had steak before but I'm glad that The Ox was my first experience. Every bit of the fillet was delicious. The blue cheese butter and green peppercorn were perfect. Triple cooked chips and green beans wer and excellent. I'm glad my first taste of fillet was at The Ox. I would come back anytime I'm in Bristol.

It’s a special place where you can experiment to be going back many years ago. Like the tunnel of time to the 50’s It took us a while to find it as we didn’t realised that it’s located downstairs. The waitresses are well trained and pleasant. The food wonderful, excellent quality 😃 The meat is very tasty and cooked to perfection. Great variety of drinks to match the meals and deserts. A bit noisy and dark, part of the atmosphere. There is at least one private room for some private dinning with a group. If you love meat it’s a place to go 😀
