About Kinmel Hall

Set within the grounds of a grand Victorian mansion undergoing restoration, Kinmel Hall offers an atmospheric back-to-basics escape on 17 acres of woodland, meadow and landscaped gardens. The handful of camping pods provide mattresses and outdoor seating, with composting loos completing the simple facilities - you'll need to bring everything else for proper wild camping. It's genuinely peaceful and remote-feeling, yet the A55 keeps the North Wales coast just 15 minutes away, Conwy Castle 20 minutes, and Snowdonia under an hour.

Dogs are welcome year-round, as are barbecues, Duke of Edinburgh groups, and motorcyclists. There's no running water on site, so come prepared, but a country pub lies half an hour's walk away and cafés, takeaways and shops are a short drive for supplies. With its atmospheric setting and striking scenery, this tiny pop-up site suits adventurous campers happy to rough it a little in exchange for a genuinely unusual stay.

Stayed overnight in a pod which was great, the grounds are beautiful but looked like they need more care and looking after.

I lived in the building in the 70s when it was a girls school - Clarendon - the building and interiors were lovely tho the school itself was a bit severe. It had formal gardens at the back where we used to have picnics in summer. It had I think 200 acres of land though the A55 expansion has taken some of it. There was an old well we called the Miracle Well as it was reputed to have healing properties. If you take the track to St George it was halfway down the hill on the right in open pasture, marked by a solitary tree. It’s probably still there.

Had 5 star tour of the property. Despite the obvious issues from the roof, which have caused significant damage to the upper floors. The ground floor displayed the opulence and character of the period which will be wonderful to view when the refurbishment is complete.

I stayed here once, way back when it was a Christian centre. It was such a beautiful building. I hope the current owners manage to restore it and bring it back into use, it would be such a shame not to.
