Minafon

Conwy sits at the edge of Snowdonia, where mountain walks begin almost immediately and the coast is never far away. Minafon occupies a quiet hamlet in this part of North Wales, down a narrow lane in what locals call Fairy Glen. The cottage is a single-storey property sleeping two, set back from neighbours with its own enclosed garden and parking. No smoking is permitted inside.

Everything is on one level: a combined living and dining room with a wood-burner, TV and DVD player; a kitchen equipped for proper cooking, with electric cooker, microwave, washer and tumble dryer; and a bedroom with a double bed. The bathroom has both bath and shower. Wifi, heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are all included, as is the initial fuel for the burner. A travel cot and high chair are available if needed. One dog is welcome to stay.

From the door you can walk straight into the mountains. Conwy's castle and medieval walls are close by, as are Llandudno's seafront, the Great Orme Tramway and the copper mines. Betws-y-Coed, Anglesey's beaches and Surf Snowdonia's artificial lake are all within reasonable reach. Practically speaking, a shop is three-quarters of a mile away, and a pub or restaurant is a quarter-mile on foot.
