About The Castle Hotel Conwy

The Castle Hotel occupies a site on Conwy's High Street that has been an inn since the 16th century, rebuilt as a coaching inn in the 19th century and now run as an AA 4-star townhouse hotel by the Coaching Inn Group. Its 29 rooms sit within a few minutes' walk of the castle, quay and town walls, giving guests genuine walking-distance access to everything the walled town has to offer.

Rooms mix historic features, exposed beams and thick stone walls in places, with contemporary furnishings and modern bathrooms, and vary in size and outlook given the age and layout of the building. The hotel's restaurant, Shakespeares, serves food using regional produce, and its bar is a popular stop for both guests and locals in the evening.

Being on the High Street itself, the hotel is about as central as a stay in Conwy can be, with the castle, quay and shops all within a short stroll, though as with most properties inside the walls, on-site parking is limited and guests typically use one of the nearby pay-and-display car parks.

Stayed at the castle Conwy a few times and it never disappoints. So comfortable and staff are wonderful. Always there to help. Ate in restaurant in the evening and great choice of food. Breakfast unhurried and set us up for the day. Location couldn’t be better as in the high street. Highly recommend and we look forward to our next visit.

Great location to everything and the parking makes it a great choice. Very clean and beds so comfy. We enjoyed the food in restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. The bar is very cozy and have great cocktails. All the staff are so helpful and friendly. Definitely going back.

Menu looked ok, so tried the 2 course lunch menu(currently £16.95 p.p) available til 5pm. I had the smoked haddock/chorizo rizotto which was well presented hot, on a hot plate ... truly delicious ... perfect. 👍My friend had the gammon/diced pineapple chutney, peas and thick cut chips with added mayonnaise. Not quite the quality of the other dish ... peas were a little 'al dente' and the gammon cut should have been consistently tender from 1st to last bite. - but an issue they should take up with their meat supplier, tbh. My pudding, the chocolate torte with scoop of blood orange sorbet topped with a delicious Cape gooseberry ... was VERY good ... made even better with the addition of a small jug of pouring cream. The sorbet was tangy and the chocolate balance blended perfectly. Excellent! My friend's Sticky toffee pudding also went down v. well ... good quality ice cream topped with the Cape gooseberry fruit melting nicely into the gently heated caramel sauced sponge pudding ... well presented and strong flavours. With a pint of Inch's cider and a couple of blackcurrent sodas ... I must say it was a hearty warming experience in the bar by the fire. Well satisfied! We eat out a fair bit . . Really recommend this combination of dishes ... especially the combo I had.

We dropped in today for lunch for my father’s 80 th birthday. The food was wonderful and incredibly delicious, but I have to say the best thing about the experience was a young man called Henry who served us , not only did he go above and beyond for us , he was extremely polite and courteous to my elderly parents. It’s rare these days to find such professionalism and respect . Thank you Henry for making my dad’s birthday a little more memorable for him !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
