Seagull Cottage

Seagull Cottage is a mid-terrace house in Portreath, a working fishing village on the north Cornish coast. You'll arrive into a living room with a 40-inch TV and Sky, opening onto a kitchen-diner with electric cooker and washing machine, plus a conservatory with doors to the rear. The layout is straightforward: one king bedroom upstairs, two singles, a pull-out single, and a bathroom with bath and shower. A travel cot, high chair and stair gate are available if needed. Essentials like bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are included.

The real draw is the location. The sandy beach is a genuine stone's throw away—a direct walk with no road between you and the water. The village itself sits in a valley alongside cliffs, with a working harbour and lifeguard-patrolled beach popular for swimming and surfing. Shops, cafés and pubs are within a flat walk. The Mineral Tramway Cycle Trail begins at Portreath and runs 11 miles south towards Devoran, passing through countryside. Inland, Ilogan Woods offers circular walks and a 14th-century church tower. Truro, with theatre, cinema and shopping, is a short drive, and the A30 puts Penzance, St Ives and the Lizard within reach.

There's parking for one car in the garage, plus on-road spaces and a public car park 250 yards away. The small rear yard is enclosed with patio furniture. The cottage is no-smoking. One dog is welcome.

This is an amazing place to stay. Everything a family on holiday could need. Clean and tidy with comfy beds. In a Lovely little village, with 2 pubs, a bakery and little shop. plus the house is set on the most beautiful beach. You literally walk out of the front door onto a little sheltered cove, which when the tide is in, is lovely and safe for the children to play in. And not even a 2 minute walk and your on the main beach, with lifeguards. We spent 2 amazing weeks here and would definitely go back again.

Seagull Cottage is located in a fabulous location, walk out of the front door and your literally on the small beach in front of the little harbour, which also includes the waterfront pub. Directly behind the cottage across the road you will find the Bassett arms, this was our pub of choice, very friendly, good food and drink and the locals are very welcoming. The cottage is very comfortable and boasts all needs for a perfect stay. Two issues we found with the property, car parking is a small garage attached to the cottage, this will accomodate a standard sized hatchback car, anything bigger will need to be parked on the beach road, Portreath is a busy area and even off peak it is difficult to find parking, alternatively parking is available in the main car park 1 minute walk away, but it does cost £10 per day. The other issue is the small fridge in the cottage, for a family of 6 it is far too small, we made the mistake of having a weeks worth of food delivered by tesco. Parking and fridge aside, this is a wonderful holiday escape and when the sun shines it is fabulous.
