About Cliftonville Hotel

Breakfast is a highlight at the Cliftonville Hotel, with guests regularly praising the spread as one of the best parts of a stay. The on-site restaurant and bar continue that theme through the day, offering meals and drinks without needing to leave the building, while the Edwardian character of the place gives the dining rooms and lounges a period charm that sets them apart from more modern seafront hotels.

The 30 rooms are generally well kept and comfortable, with many offering sea views over Cromer's coastline, and drinks can be brought straight to the room. Practical touches include a lift, free WiFi, luggage storage, and meeting rooms for those combining business with a stay by the sea. Free on-site parking is available, which is useful given the hotel's position on Runton Road near the pier. Staff are generally friendly and professional, though service has occasionally been noted as inconsistent.

Pets are welcome, and there's no shortage of things to do nearby, with pubs, restaurants and entertainment all within easy reach, as well as Cromer's pier and seafront attractions close at hand.

The Cliftonville Hotel was a lovely place to stay. I received a warm and friendly welcome from the staff when I arrived. Waking to a view of the sea has to be one of the best ways to start the day. The hotel dates back to Edwardian times and while most of the rooms are accessible using the lift, guests will need the stairs to reach some, so mention if this is a problem when you're booking. I saw people sitting in comfy chairs downstairs, enjoying coffee or drinks with friends, and there's a restaurant with a good menu. All round, it's a delightful hotel if you're looking for a comfortable, traditional stay in Cromer.

We visited the hotel today for drinks around lunchtime. To say that the staff couldnt care less would be an understatement and I cant see where the good reviews come from. There were three staff in the bar, including a women in her early sixties which could have been the manger. I said hello as i walked in and got no response. I think the three women were more concerned about a car bump which had just happended to a member of staffs car. There was no dialogue. When i was leaving the manger said out loud that she was going on her break, i said it looks like you deserve one, she said that she had been there since 7am! ( it was 2pm) . My wife asked for the dirty table to be cleaned and the same manager told a member of staff " go and clean it" again we got the same energetic service from the young girl. On leaving we said goodbye and got totally ignored by the same staff (60yr old and younger girl) it was a guest with good manners who then said to the staff he's just said goodbye!!!!! I wouldnt normally bother, but its the second time weve received a poor service. Staff should remember that unless there are paying guests, hotels like yours cant pay their bills. PS thats not me being old fashioned, its a fact. If you dont like hospitality, find yourself another job, perhaps working in a graveyard where all of the customers are buried underground!

Such a shame about the ambience and dining room, we were made to sit and eat in the bar area which is tacky and dated to say the least. There was a dining room on the other side of the entrance which did look very much better, and for the sake of linen table cloths would have made it look so much more inviting The food however was very good indeed, tasty and a very reasonable price. Such a shame.

Room on a small size but the view from the room is to die for . Very clean , I would say well maintained. On the downsize was that we came on a very hot weekend and windows do not open properly though I could understand safety issues still it could be made to open a bit wider. There was a fan in a room so that helped a little, but if it had conditioner that would made our stay in this hotel ideal. There was drinking water and treats in a room that's a very nice touch. Spotless shower room and all appliances looks brand new. Big soft towels . Cozy restaurant with a very good choice of food and drinks . And the staff is great, welcoming and attentive.
