What visitors say
This was our third year coming here for strawberry picking, and it remains a highlight for us (couples). The Experience: The strawberry picking itself never disappoints. The berries are always fantastic quality—sweet, juicy, and plenty of fun to harvest. The Value: The only downside we've noticed is that the prices seem to go up every single year. It is definitely becoming a pricier outing than it used to be. Summary: Despite the annual price hikes, we still thoroughly enjoy our time here and the quality of the fruit keeps us coming back. It’s a wonderful tradition that we'll likely continue next year! Perfect whether this year!

Our family recently spent a day at Cairnie Fruit Farm, and it was nothing short of fantastic. From start to finish, the whole experience was smooth, welcoming, and full of fun for both kids and adults alike. With four children in tow, we’re always looking for activities that everyone can enjoy—and Cairnie delivered on every front. The highlight for all of us was definitely picking pumpkins. The patch was beautifully set out with an incredible range of shapes, sizes, and colours, and the backdrop of rolling Fife countryside made it even more special. The kids loved trundling through the fields, choosing their perfect pumpkins, and proudly loading them onto the carts. Speaking of which, the tractor and cart rides were another big hit—simple, well-run, and a great way to see more of the grounds. The farm itself is stunning, with wide open spaces, colourful displays, and a sense of calm even on a busy day. There was plenty to explore—from the play areas and shop to the food stalls and café. The snacks were excellent, too: fresh, local, and perfect for refuelling after a few hours of running around. As any parent knows, easy parking can make or break a day out, and Cairnie got this spot-on. The car park was spacious, well signposted, and just a short stroll from the entrance—making arrivals and departures totally stress-free. What really stood out, though, was the friendly atmosphere. Staff were cheerful and helpful, everything was clearly organised, and there was a genuine sense that the farm is run by people who care deeply about creating memorable experiences. We left tired, happy, and already planning our next visit. Cairnie Fruit Farm is a must-visit family day out in Fife!

A further update for 2026: Strawberries and other soft fruits are still excellent, although an 'entry fee' to pick fruit is levied. I guess that this may be to cover the cost of some pickers who gorge to within an inch of illness. Anyway, an update on all the upgrades for 2026. There are none. Not one. A picture is worth a thousand words, so I have added a few. All taken in 2nd July 2026. For what it's worth: Craigtoun Country Park, on the outskirts of St Andrews, is open, with well maintained, free activities, giving a great day out. Locally produced strawberries for sale, too... Then: Great value for money with lots of young children's activities. As you might guess, superb fruit picking opportunities! Excellent parking. Toilets are okay, but not sufficient for numbers and need to be improved. Now: A danger here of killing the goose that lays the golden eggs. Still good parking and excellent strawberries.....but not a good price; toilets are appalling..... since when were they acceptable to paying guests? The owners might claim to clean them regularly, but certainly not frequently..... And £4 for a cup of coffee.....? Spend some of the profits on updating and improving the facilities..... especially the toilets, it's not as if I'm the only person to point this out....

Whilst waiting for some burgers my son had sat down at one of the distant benches to wait for me and the rest of my family who were ordering from the main cafe, when two men in heavy coats (despite the weather being hot) with dark complexions approached him and went to sit down on either side of him. They ignored spaces at other benches, so I don't know what their intentions were. My son said they spoke in a foreign language to each other whilst standing over him. I had to shout at the top of my voice from the burger van and start moving towards them and warn them off before they moved away. That is not acceptable behaviour and there are no staff around keeping watch. The "Wild Burger" van uses cheap frozen burgers and very expensive for what it is. The staff member was friendly though and showed some concern at the situation with those men and my son. The staff on reception were nice and helpful. There's not nearly enough benches to eat at outside. The overflow car park really needs a warden to help people cross, especially when busy. It's a nice drive to the location and the setting itself is lovely. This place feels like it has bags of potential, but needs a few important finishing touches.
