A former 17th-century farmhouse turned inn on Front Street in Deal, close to the Kent seafront and town attractions.
About The Five Bells
Front Street runs through the heart of Deal, and it's here, close to the seafront and the town's local attractions, that The Five Bells occupies a former 17th-century farmhouse turned village inn. It's an unassuming sort of place, dining pub downstairs and rooms above, the kind of spot that fits into the street rather than announcing itself on it.
Rooms are en-suite and include family options, with free Wi-Fi and drinks available in-room. There's a restaurant and bar on site serving breakfast and meals, kids' meals included, plus outdoor seating in the garden for warmer days. Meeting rooms and 24-hour reception cover more practical needs, and free on-site parking makes arriving by car straightforward.
Beyond the front door, Deal offers golf and fishing nearby, along with further pubs, restaurants and entertainment within easy reach. It's a straightforward base for exploring the town and coast, with the essentials covered rather than dressed up.

What guests say
Three of us went to one of the Friday food theme nights at the five bells. It was curry night. There was a choice of currys, I had madras, my wife and her friend had the balti. They were absolutely delicious and not at all like ‘pub’ curry. They came with rice, popodam and naan. They were really good value and as usual bar man John was friendly and helpful. A great well run pub.

Passing though Ringwould thought we'd popped in for a quick drink, as never drunk there before. Barmaid/landlady made us feel real welcome. Clean and tidy nice atmosphere. Would stop in again next time we are passing. Looks like they offer accomadation aswell.

John serving behind the bar very welcoming and friendly, we chatted to him about our local beer (Longman from East Sussex ) we stayed overnight, the only comment was need thicker curtains and nets or something so people can not look straight into your room. The room was lovely and clean and very comfortable, it is a shame no chef last night 😢

The accommodation at the Five Bells delivers as promised, and completely met our expectations. The room was basic, but clean and tidy, and included everything we needed. A private bathroom and tea & coffee making facilities. Plus, you have the bonus of a friendly pub downstairs! The location was ideal for us, too, just a 10-minute cycle ride from Deal.
