About Ashbourne Woods

Tucked into peaceful woodland near Rattery, Ashbourne Woods delivers spacious, private pitches that suit both wild campers and those touring with campervans. The facilities are clean and well-maintained—showers, toilets, and a communal kitchen—while a well-stocked on-site shop saves last-minute trips to town. Fire pits add to the woodland atmosphere, and dogs are welcome to join the adventure.

Staff here are friendly and helpful, making arrival and setup straightforward. Electric hook-ups are available for those who need them, though the site lacks WiFi and motorhome waste disposal—so come prepared if you're in a larger van. This is a beautiful, well kept campsite situation in small woodland. Pitches are nestled in the trees and foliage. I booked a non electric gravel pitch for my van. There's plenty of space and distance between others. The facilities are super clean and plentiful. Kitchen with sinks, microwave and kettle. Showers, laundry room if needed. Fire pits are available on each pitch which completes the wild camping experience. Have very much enjoyed my stay here. You can hear the main road very slightly but it's not a bother at night. The birds song drowns it out! Highly recommend booking a stay here.

This is a lovely site. We stayed in our campervan on a gravel pitch right on the edge of the beautiful woods. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were spotless. There's a great social area with a TV which is half inside half outside. There's also a well stocked shop. The walks around the woods are beautiful and the local village pub is not to be missed. We'll be back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly fantastic site! I’ve been to Ashbourne Woods plenty of times and will definitely continue to go. When they say "wild camping," they mean you get incredible privacy; the pitches are beautifully spread out within the woodland so you never feel crammed in. You get the best of both worlds here: a real nature experience, plus great amenities. There are decent shower and toilet blocks, a well-stocked shop, and an open barn with seating which is a lifesaver if it rains. Bonus: Fire pits are allowed and provided. You can buy logs and kindling at the shop, but they also let you collect dead wood from the ground and to top it all off, the staff and owners are really lovely. Highly recommend!

I'd love to be kind to this site. The site itself is spacious and quiet. The pitches and grounds are well cared for and the wild camping is a very charming way to spend an evening with a group of friends. However; we were as a group mischarged by just over £30. When we sought to rectify this at the end of our stay the staff were uncooperative. They then became confrontational over a complaint of noise from our pitch. As it was we had noticed a good deal of noise from the pitch behind us, we believe this was the source of the complaint. We were sorry if we had caused any issues. Rather than dealing professionally with the situation the staff became belligerent. This rather spoilt our little holiday.
