About Berry's Ground Lane Campsite

A wonderfully simple site tucked down a quiet lane near Barnstaple, Berry's Ground Lane embraces proper back-to-basics camping. The fifty pitches spread across grass fields welcome tents and tourers alike, and – importantly for many – campfires are allowed, giving evenings a proper outdoor feel. Dogs are welcome to join the adventure, and families appreciate the relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere.

Facilities are deliberately minimal: there are toilets and drinking water, but no showers or chemical disposal points. This suits campers seeking an escape from over-serviced sites, though it won't appeal to everyone. The 4.8 rating suggests most visitors value the trade-off, finding the peaceful setting and fire-friendly policy worth the stripped-back amenities. A solid Devon base for those happy to rough it slightly.

Amazing off season camping experience, the area was super quiet and peaceful with a back ground of gentle sheep baa-ing. Stunning VIEWS out to sea. Choose where you pitch on the grounds. Fantastic showers, sinks and toilets. An ideal place to unplug and relax.

What a hidden gem we found! This is probably the most beautiful coastal campsite we've stayed at so far. The breathtaking views from the clifftop overlooking the ocean and coastline are simply unforgettable. The walks straight from the campsite are spectacular, with stunning scenery in every direction. The site itself is huge, so you'll always be able to find a nice, flat pitch. There is one shower and toilet block, along with a separate hand-washing area and dishwashing area. The shower cubicles are spacious, the water was always warm, and the facilities were spotlessly clean. I loved the little touches, such as the artificial plants in the toilets and washing area, which made everything feel cosy and welcoming. The toilets were always well stocked with toilet paper and even had air freshener. The hand-washing area was stocked with soap and even moisturiser, which was a lovely surprise. One of the best things about this campsite was that there was no checkout time. We stayed until 3 pm to enjoy our final afternoon, and many other campers did the same. It made for such a relaxed and stress-free end to our stay. As the campsite sits on top of the cliffs, it can get a little windy, but nothing too serious. Even our budget Decathlon tent handled the conditions with ease. Watching the sunset from the campsite was magical. As it's a working farm, we also loved seeing the sheep, and the llamas were an absolute highlight! What an incredible stay. Thank you for creating and maintaining such a wonderful campsite. We'll definitely be back next year!

We found this hidden gem completely by accident, and what an amazing discovery it was! The campsite is in the most beautiful location, perched on top of a cliff with breathtaking views overlooking the sea. Everything is so well maintained, with clean toilets, hot showers, and sinks for washing dishes and hands. You can even hire a fire pit for just an extra £20, which makes the evenings even more special. One of our favourite things was seeing the sheep wandering around freely, and there are even a few alpacas too! It all adds to the peaceful, countryside atmosphere. We had such a wonderful stay and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to escape.

Best view in all of North Devon, we parked in lower field and had lovely views across the bay to Swansea port Talbot and Gower, the sunset was ABSOLUTELY BLOOMING, heard some interesting accents from people staying on the site although I am not fluent in German or french or Dutch, the showers toilets and sinks were all impeccable and made our stay a little easier, the alpacas were pretty chilled out and just wanted to lay around in the heat, and didn't spit at me or my partner which was always her worry ! We will 100% return next year it was the highlight of our trip
