About Harbour Hotel Salcombe
Harbour Hotel Salcombe sits on the water's edge just outside the centre of Salcombe, close enough to walk into town in a few minutes and far enough out to keep the views uninterrupted. The building steps down the hillside, which means most of the public rooms and a large proportion of the bedrooms look south over the Kingsbridge estuary and the boats moored below.
Rooms are done in a New England seaside style, pale timber and blue-grey paint, with the better categories taking in floor-to-ceiling windows and small balconies or terraces. Sizes vary considerably given the age and shape of the building, so it is worth being specific about what you want when booking rather than taking the entry-level rate and hoping. Family rooms and interconnecting options are available.
The spa is the main draw beyond the view: five treatment rooms, an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna and a small gym, all of which make the hotel a reasonable proposition outside high summer when the weather turns. There is also a cinema room, and free parking, which in Salcombe is worth more than it sounds. The restaurant leans heavily on local seafood, with crab and scallops landed nearby.
It suits couples and small families who want a comfortable base in the most fashionable part of South Devon without self-catering. Salcombe's sandy beaches at North Sands and South Sands are a short walk or a ferry hop away, the town's sailing and paddleboarding operators are on the doorstep, and the coast path towards Bolt Head starts within a mile. It is not cheap, and August rates reflect that, but the location is about as good as Devon gets.

What guests say
Our first trip back to Salcombe after more than 15 years found us booking a 5 night stay at the Harbour Hotel and Spa and what a great decision this proved to be. The Harbour Hotel is perfectly located in the Town away from the main hustle and bustle but still only a stroll away from it all. The Hotel has a commanding location on the waters edge and from the varying levels, fantastic views accross the Town and over the estuary are fantastic. We were very fortunate that during our week we had glorious sunny weather each day and this, allowed us to take advantage of the magnificent outdoor and terraced spaces whether that be for dining or relaxing with drinks. From the moment we arrived the staff were all superb. A relaxed friendly but professional service was the theme of the Hotel and we very much liked this style. The Hotel has a bright and modern theme which extended to all areas. Our room was equally excellent with some great views over the water. The Hotel is very well equipped. Lots of spacious and comfortable public spaces, the bar and dining areas are open plan and take maximum advantage of the light and the surrounding views. The facilities also extend to a stylish pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms. Massage and treatment rooms also available along with an ample sized and equipped gym. Salcombe and its surrounding area is beautiful and a perfect place to spend a few days relaxing or exploring. Booking your stay at the Harbour Hotel and Spa would also prove to be a great decision to maximise your holiday experience. Don’t hesitate to book as I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Just back from a beautiful 2 night break in salcombe. Home was the Harbour Hotel, treated my mum for her 80th and took our beloved Yorkie Simba and stayed in the estuary view with Juliet balcony. Amazing location, few mins walk into town centre. It truly was a home from home. Lovely staff especially Alex, someone that is clearly spinning lots of plates at once. The standard of food on the menu was excellent - Prawn Tempura stands out as well as the cod and crab. All staff were first class. The spa was a standouts too, all the facilities you'd expect to see and all in top condition. Room service was top notch too. Personally I would have loved a firmer mattress and a pillow menu, but you can't have everything. Thank you very much indeed Harbour Hotel Team. Note to the big boss, Alex in the Jetty deserves a bonus.

Came here for a weekend away with the wife to get away and relax and it was definitely worthwhile. The views from the rooms across the estuary are fantastic. The restaurant has delicious breakfast and dinner. The on-site spa is so peaceful and relaxing. The location is ideal as it's very central so can easily walk all through the town. The staff are friendly and courteous and always make you feel welcome. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a break from the hustle & bustle of normal life and just relax.

We stayed at the Harbour Hotel & Spa in Salcombe for four days and three nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The location is fantastic, with truly breathtaking views. On arrival, we were pleasantly surprised with a small room upgrade, giving us an even better view, a really thoughtful touch. The reception team were warm and welcoming, and housekeeping kept everything spotless with efficient service throughout our stay. We also made use of the swimming pool in the evening (open until 8pm), which was a lovely way to unwind. We opted for the continental breakfast, which offered a good selection and set us up nicely for the day. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and loved spending time in beautiful Salcombe!
