About Dornoch Station
Walk into a room at Dornoch Station and you'll find clean, comfortable quarters with en-suite bathrooms, drinks laid on, and in many cases a view out over the sea. It's the kind of straightforward comfort that suits a golfing break or a slower Highlands stay, with a garden to sit out in and a lift for those who'd rather skip the stairs.
Downstairs there's a restaurant and bar serving a broad breakfast spread and food that includes a well-regarded steak, plus kids' meals for families. Staff are warm and attentive, giving the place a genuinely welcoming feel, though service can occasionally lag when things get busy. Practical extras cover free WiFi, laundry service, luggage storage, meeting rooms, and free on-site parking, with pets welcome too.
Dornoch itself is well placed for the Royal Dornoch Golf Club, along with fishing, entertainment and a scattering of pubs and restaurants nearby, making it an easy base for exploring the surrounding Highlands.

My partner and I were attending a friend’s wedding and, overall, we found the hotel to be lovely. Our room was comfortable and we had no issues with the accommodation itself. However, I was disappointed with the service we received from your bar manager. From the moment we arrived at the bar, his attitude gave the impression that serving us—and other wedding guests—was an inconvenience. While I understand that staff may be busy during events, the level of service we experienced felt unwelcoming. More concerning was an interaction when my partner ordered shots. We were informed that the bar did not have shot glasses, which in itself was not an issue. However, the bar manager went on to comment that this was because the hotel “normally has classier customers” who do not require them. I found this remark to be inappropriate and offensive. As paying guests—having spent £296 on our stay—we did not expect to be spoken to in this manner. Regardless of the type of event or clientele, all guests should be treated with courtesy and respect. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and address it with the member of staff involved, as it detracted from what was otherwise a pleasant experience. I look forward to your response.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience because it fell so far below what we expected from a 5-star hotel. We booked this hotel to celebrate a very special occasion, so it’s incredibly disappointing that our experience turned out this way. The room service was practically nonexistent. We returned to our room to find that the trash had not been emptied, the room had not been properly cleaned, no fresh towels had been provided, and even basic amenities like the shower gel had not been replenished. It was genuinely shocking and completely unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. What made the experience even more frustrating was that we raised these issues with the reception multiple times, yet nothing changed. Despite our repeated complaints, no action was taken to resolve the problem, which only added to our disappointment. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations in any way.

My partner & I spent the night there to celebrate Valentines night, the hotel was exquisite from the moment we stepped foot in the building. We were given a free upgrade to a sea view room, the bedroom was clean, cosy and the bed was at least super king sized. We enjoyed our dinner there too, we ate in Ross’s Bar as the restaurant was closed due to it being off season. The food was excellent, fresh and cooked to perfection. The hotel also has several sets of golf clubs for the guests to use if you are lucky enough to get a tee time at the famous RDGC next door.
