Culquhasen

Culquhasen is a detached farmhouse on a working farm, recently renovated. You arrive into a home designed for groups: two separate living areas on the ground floor, one with an open fire and the other with a television, a kitchen with both an electric cooker and a Rayburn, and enough bedrooms and bathrooms to sleep eight comfortably. Upstairs there are four bedrooms—two doubles and two twin rooms—plus a bathroom with a bath and shower. A utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer is tucked away downstairs.

The essentials are covered: heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and wifi are all included, along with initial logs for the fire. There's a highchair if you need one, and a welcome pack on arrival. One dog can stay free, though the working farm and surrounding sheep country mean it must be kept on a lead. Outside, the property has an enclosed lawn with seating and a barbecue, plus a hot tub to soak in after a day out. You'll find bike storage and parking for four cars.

This part of Dumfries and Galloway has coastal scenery, sandy beaches, and countryside with little traffic—good territory for exploring the Machars Peninsula and Galloway Hills. Smoking is not permitted inside.
