Laird House

Dumfries and Galloway

View on Google Maps

The Solway coast is within reach—dramatic stretches with hidden coves and sandy beaches, plus the villages of Rockcliffe and Kippford with their sea vistas. Inland, the southern uplands offer hill walks and mountain biking routes. Dumfries itself has shops and restaurants; nearby are National Trust gardens and historical sites scattered across the region.

Laird House itself is a converted farm dairy, set on a working beef farm where guests can help feed calves, ducks and collect eggs if they wish. Everything is on the ground floor, with ramp access to the entrance. The open-plan living space anchors the cottage—a woodburner in one corner, dining area, kitchen with electric cooking and a breakfast bar. A conservatory beyond has table football and garden views. Bedrooms are a zip-and-link super king (which splits into two singles) with its own bathroom, and a double with bunk beds suitable for children, served by a shower room. The property sleeps 6 in total. Central heating keeps things warm; logs for the stove are included, along with wifi, electricity, bed linen and towels. The enclosed garden has a patio, furniture and a barbecue, and there is a play area for children. Parking for three cars is on site, and an electric car charging point is available. No smoking indoors.
