Walk through the entrance at Westlin and the layout immediately works for a group. Ground floor holds the main living room—generously proportioned, with a multi-fuel burner and patio doors onto the garden—plus a second sitting room with television, a separate dining room, and a kitchen with electric oven, hob, dishwasher and all the standard appliances. There is also a ground-floor bedroom with a shower room, a utility room with washing machine, and storage space. Upstairs, four further bedrooms are arranged across the first floor: one kingsize, one double, and two rooms with twin single beds each. Two shower rooms serve the upper level, and one bedroom has its own ensuite.

Westlin stands detached in Penpont village, a small settlement with a shop two miles from Thornhill, where supermarkets and restaurants are clustered. The surrounding area suits walkers and cyclists—quiet country roads run in all directions, and the 7Stanes mountain-bike network and KM trail are within reach. An 18-hole golf course operates at Thornhill; the Solway coast and various castles and estates are a reasonable drive away. The property is non-smoking.
